Friends of Greenview and Pioneer Nature Area Friends of Greenview and Pioneer Nature Area manages native habitat at Greenview Nature Area, organizes community events, and promotes outdoor education.

Since 1990, the Friends group has planted more than 200 trees and hundreds of wildflower seedlings. An edible garden, a pollinator garden and a frog habitat meadow have been established. The organization also works to control invasive species, conduct prescribed burns for meadow restoration and maintain more than 2 miles of trails.

September brings golden color to the Greenview Pollinator Garden, with goldenrod, sunflowers, rudbeckia, coreopsis, and sneezew**d.

The meadows have turned gold. Goldenrod is in full bloom at Greenview, a keystone species supporting late season pollinators. Several species grow here, each suited to different soil conditions. Easy to overlook, essential to the prairie.

Purples, yellows, and whites fill Greenview Pollinator Garden this late summer. Joe Pye w**d, boneset, ironw**d, sunflowers, rudbeckias, and rattlesnake master all in bloom.

Some “w**ds” are native. Some wildflowers aren’t. Friends of Greenview/pioneer to reduce invasive w**ds and encourage native plants that support pollinators and wildlife.

Tall grass season at Greenview. But too much grass crowds out wildflowers butterflies need. So we balance it: overseeding + a fall burn this year to weaken the grasses

Midsummer at the Greenview Pollinator Garden. Late July brought wildflowers into full color, drawing in pollinators and birds. This garden is possible thanks to generous donations from our community
