“What?! HillTop has a plastic recycling program?”

Yup. We sure do! 🙌

If you purchased from us, you get to recycle with us! 💚♻️

❗️It only runs from MID-JUNE through AUGUST
And there’s a reason for that!❗️🗓️

Why only during those months?🗣️

I’m glad you asked!

By mid-summer, our greenhouse is hopefully looking pretty empty. 🤞 That gives our team a little breathing room to tackle the not-so-glamorous, behind-the-scenes work that keeps HillTop running.

Sorting greenhouse plastic is a bit like the matching game you played as a kid! 🧩

Different sizes, shapes, and styles all need to be sorted and matched. Once everything is organized, it gets stacked on pallets so we can get ready for inventory.📝

And here’s another piece of the puzzle, our plastic orders ideally need to be placed in October!🤦🏼‍♀️🤪

➡️That’s why our plastic return program takes place during the summer months.

We sell our herbs, zinnias and select veggies in this size. 🙃

Behind two sets of doors, two full banker boxes, numerous reports, and at least nine tabs open on my computer screen, I am nearing the halfway point of completing my 2027 orders! Including this beauty. ⬇️🚪🚪💻🎉

Japanese Pansies have been all the rage over the last few months. Newly introduced to America this summer, I'm over-the-moon excited that HillTop will have them in 2027. 🙃
We will have a limited run of the series, "Twilight."

The breeder, Mr. Santo, recently gave an interview explaining his love for the deeply ruffled pansy that has taken years to develop. His excitement at seeing how social media has embraced his breeding made me smile. I can only imagine how elated his must feel seeing the world’s reaction. 🥹

So, let's make sure Mr. Santo gets all the credit he deserves for bringing one of the most unique pansies to the market for a 2027 launch. 💛

I hit up the Farm Shed for some fresh greens.
Spring mix & romaine will be paired with chicken strips and yummy toppings. 😋

Lots of paperwork for a Monday = a simple dinner.

Let’s talk decorative cabbage and kale, also known as ornamental cabbage and kale. 💬

Why are these fall favorites so sought after? COLOR and COLD TOLERANCE!

Yes, you read that right. COLD! We’re talking temperatures around 5°F and below.
These beauties can handle a serious chill!🥶

Their gorgeous purples, pinks, and whites keep showing off long after the autumn leaves have fallen. A touch of frost? No problem. A little snow? Yes, I said SNOW! ❄️They can keep right on going. Color when is just plain blah. 🙃

The calendar has turned to October. We are almost halfway through the month. It sounds wild even as I type it.🤯📆

And you know what that means? We will soon be preparing for the end of the season. 🥹

This season, HillTop turned 21! 🎂
Crazy. Just crazy.
So today I celebrate 21, take a moment to look back, but also know how excited I am going into 2027. 💛

We have mums, decorative kale & cabbage, fall pansies, and pumpkins to make your porch look like you meant to do it all along.🍂😁
