Last week, Justin Davis, President of Business Development, and Michael Okoye, Senior Project Engineer, represented Pinner Construction at AGC of California’s CONSTRUCT 2026 Conference, connecting with industry leaders, exploring emerging trends and bringing back valuable insights to strengthen our operations and project delivery.

A key takeaway was the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in construction. Keynote speaker Zach Giglio shared valuable perspectives on implementing AI responsibly and effectively, reinforcing Pinner’s ongoing efforts to expand AI integration, streamline workflows and empower employees through technology and training.

Other conference highlights included the Education Showcase featuring LAUSD, Cal State Fullerton and Riverside Community College District; discussions with CAL FIRE on improving inspection and closeout processes; and Pinner’s commitment to AGC’s new Collaborative Build Initiative, which aligns with our longstanding dedication to strong industry partnerships.

We were also proud to sponsor the Long Beach State AGC Student Chapter’s attendance at the conference. Justin and Michael enjoyed connecting with the students, sharing their industry experiences and celebrating the next generation of construction professionals.

Reflecting on his first CONSTRUCT conference, Michael shared:

Celebrating the women building our industry’s future! 🏗️

Pinner sponsored last week’s Women in Construction (WIC) Conference in Sacramento, hosted by the Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) and Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SRBX).

Supporting this event is especially meaningful to our team. It’s an opportunity to cheer on the women shaping construction today, learn from their experiences and encourage those just beginning to see a future for themselves in our industry.

From inspiring speakers, including the NFL’s first female executive, Amy Trask, and Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran, to conversations with the next generation of construction professionals, the conference offered plenty of insight to bring back to our teams.

For QC Assistant, Marites Ruiz, conference highlights included representing Pinner at our booth and meeting high school and college students who are exploring careers in construction. Their enthusiasm for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP), structural engineering, and other technical fields made those conversations especially memorable.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to connect with us and to CIEF and SRBX for hosting a space where women in construction can connect, share knowledge and inspire one another. We’re proud to support this community of women who continue to push the industry forward.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the $42M Dixie Canyon Elementary School Classroom Replacement Project!

As a STEAM-focused campus, Dixie Canyon provides students with an educational environment centered around science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. In partnership with LAUSD, DLR Group, our trade partners, and local hire and veteran tradespersons, Pinner delivered a modernized campus that will serve students, faculty and the surrounding community for years to come.

“It has been incredibly rewarding to see the Dixie Canyon project come to fruition through the collective efforts of our team, DLR Group, LAUSD PEX, and our trade partners.,” said Sr. Project Manager Trung Dao. “Delivering a successful project requires collaboration, commitment and perseverance. I am proud of what we achieved together.”

The project included a new two-story classroom building, Kindergarten building, restroom building, lunch shelter and playground, along with campus-wide improvements to infrastructure, safety, security and technology. Construction was completed in multiple phases to minimize impacts while the campus remained active.

For Project Engineer Oskar Nava, Dixie Canyon marked an important milestone as his first project with Pinner. “I’m proud to have been part of the Dixie project and to have worked alongside such a great team,” he said. “We supported one another and always looked out for each other throughout the project.”

Superintendent Casey Lain shared, “Dixie Canyon’s substantial completion reflects what can be accomplished when a team works together toward a common goal. The communication, cooperation, and mutual respect demonstrated by everyone involved made this project a success. It was truly a privilege to be part of the team and see what we were able to accomplish together.”

Three decades at Pinner and a well-deserved promotion! 🎉

Steve Myers’ promotion to Vice President of Preconstruction coincides with his incredible 30-year milestone with our company, reflecting the loyalty, commitment and relationships that have defined his career.

During those three decades, Steve has played an increasingly important role in the growth and evolution of Pinner’s Preconstruction capabilities. His expertise in estimating, conceptual budgeting, bid strategy, value engineering, subcontractor relationships and project buyout has helped establish many of the daily practices our teams rely on.

Steve’s impact extends well beyond estimates and numbers. His institutional knowledge, willingness to support project teams and commitment to sharing his experience have made him an invaluable resource throughout Pinner. He has helped develop our people, strengthen relationships and bring thoughtful leadership to increasingly complex projects and delivery methods.

After more than 25 years of growth across Operations and Preconstruction, Steve Hogan is taking the next step in his Pinner career as Vice President of Preconstruction. 🎉

His decades of experience have given Steve a valuable perspective on how early planning, strong collaboration, and field ex*****on work together to support successful projects. From traditional hard-bid construction to Lease-Leaseback and Design-Build delivery, he has helped Pinner navigate an evolving industry while contributing his expertise in estimating, value engineering, constructability, subcontractor relationships and operational support.

Remaining deeply committed to our people, Steve consistently shares lessons learned, mentors team members and strengthens the connection among all departments to support project delivery. His contributions have been key to developing the collaborative culture that defines Pinner.

“Seeing what we can accomplish when we work together toward a common goal has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my career,” he said.

Steve will continue providing leadership to our growing Preconstruction team, supporting personnel development and advancing the cross-functional approach that has been central to the company's success.

Last Friday, we hosted our Summer 2026 Intern Lunch & Learn at our CHP Santa Fe Springs project!

Interns from across multiple projects came together to learn about different phases of a jobsite, share their experiences, and connect with one another. It was a great opportunity to collaborate, ask questions, and gain new perspectives.

Our CHP Santa Fe Springs intern, Valerie Altamirano, shared:
"I enjoyed spending time with the other interns and hearing about their projects and experiences. It was a great way to build connections and share our knowledge."

Samuel Park, an intern at our CHP Baldwin Park project, added:
"The experience reinforced what I've enjoyed most about my internship at Pinner Construction—being part of a team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and a family-oriented culture."
