Some before and after pictures of a recent job we just finished in West salem. As you can see pavers are a better solution in the long run. If This Were broken or cracked concrete you would have to pull the whole thing out and redo it. We save the client money on reusing the old pavers and implementing a new double paver for the perimeter Edge.

The Importance of Paver Maintenance and Sealing: Protecting Your Investment

At River City Hardscape, we have spent more than two decades designing, installing, and maintaining beautiful hardscape projects throughout our community. From patios and walkways to driveways and retaining walls, we've seen firsthand how proper maintenance can dramatically extend the life and beauty of paver installations.

Many homeowners invest thousands of dollars into creating outdoor spaces that enhance their property and lifestyle. However, like any investment, pavers require routine care to ensure they continue looking their best year after year.

Why Paver Maintenance Matters

Pavers are built to last, but they are constantly exposed to the elements. Rain, UV rays, moss, w**ds, dirt, oil stains, and seasonal temperature changes can all take a toll on their appearance and performance.

Regular maintenance helps:

- Preserve the original color and beauty of the pavers
- Prevent w**d growth between joints
- Reduce moss and algae buildup
- Minimize shifting and settling
- Protect against staining
- Extend the lifespan of the entire hardscape system

Ignoring routine maintenance can lead to costly repairs and diminish the curb appeal of your property.

The Benefits of Sealing Your Pavers

One of the most effective ways to protect your hardscape investment is professional paver sealing.

A quality sealer acts as a protective barrier, helping shield pavers from moisture pe*******on, UV damage, and everyday wear. Properly sealed pavers are easier to clean and maintain while retaining their vibrant appearance.

Benefits of sealing include:

Enhanced Color

Sealing brings out the natural richness of your pavers, making colors appear deeper and more vibrant. Whether you prefer a natural finish or a wet-look appearance, sealing can significantly improve the overall aesthetic.

Protection from Stains

Driveways, patios, and outdoor living spaces are often exposed to oil, grease, food spills, and organic debris. Sealed pavers are more resistant to staining, making cleanup easier and helping prevent permanent discoloration.

W**d and Moss Reduction

While sealing does not eliminate w**ds entirely, it helps stabilize joint sand and reduces opportunities for w**d growth and moss intrusion.

Protection from Weather

Oregon's climate presents unique challenges for outdoor surfaces. Rain, moisture, and seasonal temperature fluctuations can gradually wear down pavers. Sealing helps reduce water absorption and protects against weather-related deterioration.

Longer Lifespan

Routine sealing and maintenance can add years to the life of your hardscape, helping you avoid premature repairs and replacement costs.

How Often Should Pavers Be Sealed?

While every project is different, most paver surfaces benefit from resealing every 3 to 5 years depending on exposure, traffic, drainage conditions, and the type of sealer used.

Regular inspections can help identify areas that may need attention before small issues become larger problems.

Trust Experience That Lasts

At River City Hardscape, we understand that every hardscape project represents more than stone and pavers—it represents memories, gatherings, and the pride homeowners take in their property.

With over twenty years of industry experience, we've learned that success comes from diligence, attention to detail, and doing the job right the first time. We believe in treating every project as if it were our own, delivering craftsmanship that stands the test of time.

We are grateful for the many blessings that have allowed us to serve our community and build lasting relationships with our clients. As we look toward the future, our commitment remains the same: provide exceptional hardscape solutions, maintain the highest standards of integrity, and help our customers protect their investments for years to come.
