The next couple of weeks are the best time of year to plant native perennials. The weather is mild, the soil is warm and the prices are GREAT! And I'm looking forward to hosting Wild Ones Greater Cleveland on October 10.

What's your idea of a rain garden? Here I created a kind of detention area to collect rain water runoff that supports a variety of native plants well adapted to temporary flooding. Webbedfoot Designs started as an effort to promote rain gardens. I am certified as a Master Rain Gardener and encourage others to use their space to prevent or subdue stresses on the storm water infrastructure that has not kept up with urban development. All such designs use native perennial plants that also service bees, butterflies and birds. It's a win-win.
