As students have gone back to school this month, we recently had the opportunity to celebrate unveiling of the new addition to Van Meter Community School! The 48,500 SF addition will provide 21 additional classrooms for kindergarten through 3rd grade, as well as a multi-functional gym and theater space, a weightlifting room, and improved parking and concessions for athletic events. Story Construction served the district as its construction manager, completing the project over the course of nearly two years. Congratulations to the Van Meter community on this great new asset for your students!

The construction industry is full of action-takers and people who make things happen. Each action is ultimately an experiment, especially in construction where no two projects are the same. Even the best project schedule tucked away in a software program or spreadsheet often provides more barriers than benefits. Visual planning using Post-it notes on a dedicated planning board - all the way down to daily crew production targets - means the project plan can be visualized, tracked, and progressed with input directly from crews on site. This component of Construction Production 2.0 gives our teams a simple, tactile way to plan work in real time and fosters meaningful collaboration with one another.

NorthPoint Church in Johnston sought to undergo a significant transformation of its existing facility into a space that could be used continuously throughout the week. In meeting the challenge, the Story Construction team delivered a 7,600 SF addition and 30,000 SF of renovations while the church continued to host services. The new space creates a more open environment to further build a community within the walls of NorthPoint Church.

Plenty of vertical progress is being made at the new elementary school in Bondurant! Crews are working on steel and precast er****on for the new 74,000 SF school building, which will contain 30 classrooms to serve the fast-growing district's students. Story Construction is serving the district as its construction manager on this project as it has on eight previous projects including the new Junior High School, several high school additions, new baseball and softball fields and facilities, and other renovations and additions.

Earlier this month, Ironhorse Aviation lifted and installed two rooftop units at our Van Meter Community School addition project. Story's project and safety teams coordinated a safety plan for the operation alongside everyone involved, resulting in a successful mission!
