Another kitchen given a full reset. We pulled the old wallpaper, then matched the existing crown molding and cut it to wrap cleanly around the newly added range hood.

The cabinets were distressed, so we filled all the distress holes for a smooth, updated look. New shiplap and side panels went on the island before we two-toned the cabinets and island, then finished the walls, ceiling, and trim.

Here’s a project we’ve been excited to do since last summer — giving our “new” shop a much needed makeover. For a little backstory: about a year ago we realized we had outgrown our first spot in Ambler, the one we’d had since 2018. It served us well from the beginning, when it was just the two of us painting houses and needing a place to keep our tools. But after years of staff growth and multiple iterations of the layout, we realized it was time. We made the move to our new location, which not only gave us more space but really set the tone for what’s been a year of learning and growing — both as a business and as a member of our community.

A few weekends ago we (with some thoughtful help from our team) finally gave the exterior the treatment it deserved. We swapped the brown-on-brown of old for a much more updated two-toned look — Hale Navy on the aluminum, Shoji White on the block, and my favorite, the glossy gold pole out front to tie it together and match our company colors.

The growth to this point hasn’t come easy, and it hasn’t come without lessons. But every one of them has made us better at what we do. We’re grateful to our growing customer base — the people who keep us doing what we love — and excited to keep showing up for our neighbors in Ambler and throughout Montgomery and Bucks County. A good way to achieve a finished look in a basement with an exposed ceiling? Just paint it. All of it — ductwork, wires, joists, subfloor — essentially everything but the lights.

This one got a dark gray, almost black ceiling that does a great job of hiding all the cracks, wiring, and ductwork in this old home. In addition to the ceiling, w e also painted the brick columns in an accent navy blue, went with a light blue on the trim, and kept the walls neutral. The homeowner topped it off with that checkerboard tile and the whole unique space really comes together.

No sheetrock. No cutting around lights, sprinklers, or ductwork. Just a coat of quality bonding primer and a nice flat paint — let the dark color do the heavy lifting.

These pics are from right after we wrapped up — no furniture yet — but you can already see the impact. A painted exposed ceiling is one of the most underrated ways to finish a basement.
