Eric Gehring, Director of the Commercial Studio at KMA Design Studio, is celebrating 10 years with the firm! With 30 years of architectural experience, Eric brings deep knowledge to KMA and leads projects across the commercial, YMCA, recreational facilities, self-storage, and automotive markets. Eric earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Temple University. One of Eric’s favorite KMA projects is the Willow Grove YMCA. He finds it especially rewarding to work on projects that make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve. Eric enjoys the challenge of figuring things out, whether developing a tricky layout, working through design constraints, or finding creative ways to bring a client’s vision to life. Over the past decade, Eric’s experience, leadership, and problem-solving approach have made him an invaluable part of the KMA team. We are grateful for all he brings to the firm. Congratulations on 10 years, Eric!

As daylight shifts, so does the way we experience a space. When designing a project, color, materials, textures, shadows, and architectural details can look dramatically different from afternoon to evening. That’s why it’s important to envision a project for more than a single moment in time.

Architectural visualization allows us to explore how natural light moves through a space and how artificial lighting transforms it after sunset. By designing for the full day, we can create senior living environments that remain comfortable, welcoming, and engaging from morning to night.

The evening brought together supporters to celebrate the meaningful impact of the Hub and the caregivers and families it serves. A great day on the course for an even greater cause! ⛳KMA was proud to participate in the YMCA of Greater Brandywine ’s Chester County Corporate Golf Championship at Stonewall Links. The annual outing brings together organizations from across Chester County for a day of golf, connection, and community impact. Proceeds support the YMCA’s youth financial assistance program and help make vital programs and services accessible. We’re always proud to support the YMCA of Greater Brandywine and its continued commitment to strengthening the communities it serves.

3D modeling allows our team to explore a space long before construction begins, studying scale, layout, circulation, architectural details, and the overall resident experience. Renderings take that process a step further, bringing materiality, lighting, furnishings, and atmosphere into the picture. For senior living communities, this visualization process helps us thoughtfully shape environments that feel welcoming, comfortable, and connected from residences and dining to social, wellness, and amenity spaces. Nature was thoughtfully woven into the building design at Woodward Lofts by KMA. 🌿As construction advances at Woodward Lofts in Harrisburg, the building’s innovative mass timber system is an integral part of the interior design. Exposed cross-laminated timber brings the natural warmth and character of wood into the building, supporting a biophilic design approach that creates welcoming, residential spaces.

Biophilic design strengthens the connection between people and nature in the built environment through elements such as natural materials, textures, light, and views of the outdoors. At Woodward Lofts, exposed mass timber makes that connection part of the architecture itself, bringing the warmth and texture of natural wood throughout the interior.

By making the structure part of the finished interior, the design reduces the need for additional finishes while celebrating the beauty of the building’s mass timber system. From exposed wood ceilings and structural elements to natural textures and warm finishes, each detail works together to create a comfortable, connected, and thoughtfully designed environment.
