Nicholas Robinson, a Designer II at KMA Design Studio, is celebrating 10 years with the firm! As a member of KMA’s production team, Nick specializes in Revit modeling, drafting, and 3D renderings. Following site surveys, he uses field measurements, photographs, and existing documentation to create detailed digital models and prepare projects for schematic design and construction documentation.

One of Nick’s favorite projects is the interior and exterior renovation work at Brittany Pointe Estates. Managing numerous design options and renderings within a single Revit model challenged him to expand his technical skills, including creating fully parametric Revit families. Nick especially enjoys studying existing buildings and piecing together old floor plans, wall sections, and intricate details to understand how each space was originally constructed. He then translates that information into accurate digital models that help move projects forward. Over the past decade, Nick’s technical expertise, attention to detail, and dedication have made him a valuable member of KMA. Congratulations on 10 years, Nick! We are lucky to have you on the team.

KMA Design Studio was proud to join the project team, residents, and community members in West Philadelphia to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Walnut Park Plaza rehabilitation.

Originally constructed in 1928, the nine-story building is home to 227 affordable senior apartments. This major renovation will preserve the building’s historic character while making important improvements to help ensure Walnut Park Plaza continues to provide quality, affordable housing for years to come.

We’re proud to be part of a project that invests not only in an existing building, but in the residents and community it serves.

To conclude their summer at KMA, our interns presented their collaborative final project to the team, a mock design proposal for a retirement community sales center. Working as a multidisciplinary team, each intern took on a unique role, combining their skills to develop and present a cohesive design solution. The project challenged them to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and experience what it’s like to work as an integrated design team. We’re incredibly proud of what they accomplished this summer and grateful for the fresh perspectives they brought to KMA. We can’t wait to see what they do next!

Ribbon officially cut! ✂️Congratulations to River Crossing YMCA on the opening of the new RCY Sports Center in Doylestown. This new facility features two multipurpose courts and an indoor turf practice field within a pre-engineered steel building wrapped in fabric, creating a flexible, year-round space for sports, recreation, and community programming. A great project made possible through collaboration with Legacy Building Solutions, Twining Construction, OneRep, McHugh Engineering Associates, DCI Engineers, Gilmore & Associates, Inc., and the entire project team.

Our interns spent the day exploring the Woodward Lofts construction site in Harrisburg and a few other fun stops. There’s no better way to learn than seeing a project come to life firsthand. Thanks for coming along for the ride! 🚐🏗️🍫🏘️

Happy National Intern Day! 🎉🍦
Yesterday we celebrated our incredible summer interns with a little friendly competition and a sweet treat. Teams put their creativity and collaboration to the test during a spaghetti and marshmallow tower challenge before heading out for some well-deserved ice cream. Thank you for all of your hard work, fresh ideas, and enthusiasm this summer. We appreciate everything you’ve contributed to KMA and can’t wait to see where your careers take you!

Another milestone reached at High Street Senior Living. The building is beginning to rise as construction advances, and structural elements continue to take shape. It’s exciting to see the vision becoming reality as the future community takes shape. Once complete, High Street Senior Living will feature 162 Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care residences designed to foster comfort, connection, and an exceptional quality of life.

Martina led another “Detail University” session last week, this time with our summer interns. Working alongside senior staff, each intern traced information from different parts of a drawing set to develop and sketch a construction detail. The exercise helped demonstrate how individual plans, elevations, and notes come together to communicate how a building is actually constructed.
