Outdoor spigots are one of the most commonly overlooked freeze risks in Amarillo homes. When water sits in an exposed line and temperatures drop below freezing, that line can burst — and the damage often happens inside the wall where you can't see it.

Here's what to do before the first freeze:

→ Disconnect and store all garden hoses — a connected hose traps water in the line
→ Locate your shutoff valve for each outdoor spigot (usually inside the house)
→ Shut off the valve and open the spigot to drain any remaining water
