My talented daughter has started her own business creating upcycled hoodies and will be having a pop-up event in Sioux Falls, SD this Saturday morning! She would love to have any people around the Sioux Falls area stop by to chat, grab some coffee, and check out her work.
The pop up is being hosted by The Source Coffee Roastery + Taproom at 421 N. Phillips Ave in Sioux Falls and will run from 8:30-12:30 Saturday morning, Sept 19. The hoodies pictured are a few examples of what she’ll have there available for purchase.
Also, she’d love for you to check out and follow her page: Homestead Hoodies

If you guessed stair treads for the last post a couple weeks ago you were correct. Due to several reasons the treads for this project needed to be veneered so they’re made up of a plywood core and shop sawn walnut veneer top and bottom. They finished at 3” thick and every one of them needed to be made a slightly different size/shape to fit a very unique stair case. Stay tuned in to see the finished project.

I had the opportunity to work on a really cool but challenging project over the summer for a great repeat customer. What started as 650 board feet of walnut lumber, 20 sheets of plywood, 20 sheets of MDF, and a whole lot of glue slowly transformed into something pretty awesome. Stay tuned in over the next couple weeks to see some more about it.

This walnut dining table with benches was completed and delivered to a customer’s home in Sioux Falls, SD earlier this summer. It measures 46” wide x 100” long and has mortise and tenon breadboard ends. In one of the last pictures you’ll see a furniture bolt used to attach the top to the base of the table. Those four bolts and the threaded inserts for them are the only pieces of metal in the whole table, everything else is solid wood joints.
Have a great week everyone!

This 10ft walnut dining table was delivered to a customer’s lake house this spring. The customer wanted shaped edges around the top which was something I haven’t done before and added a really cool look. The walnut used to make the table came from a local tree that I had milled. When surfacing the lumber for this project I ran across some buckshot in the wood and since the customer has some hunters in the family they decided to leave them for some added character.
Have a great weekend everyone!

This wood left the customer’s property as a log from an ash tree that was taken down to make way for a new lake house and was returned to the same property to be used as a bar table in a rec room. The live edge top measures 42” x 8ft and the table stands 36” tall.
Ash is a beautiful hardwood. Unfortunately the ash trees are disappearing fast so take advantage of using it while we can.

Earlier this winter I pulled about everything but the big logs from my walnut stash for a milling job. After these planks are done being vacuum kiln dried they’ll be back in my shop for a really cool project.

A customer lost several of their yard trees in a storm last summer and wanted to save what they could of them. I milled 9 logs from those trees and they ended up with some great lumber and slabs to use for future projects! Hackberry, pin oak, and walnut.
Have a great weekend!
