6am. Coffee. Sunrise.
7pm. W**e by the fire. Sunset.
9pm. A hot bath. Last light through the glass. 🌅
Three windows. Three moments. One home in Altadena.
The first one sits up front. Big glass, a bench built right into the wall. East-facing, so the morning light finds you before your coffee cools. This is the spot the day starts.
The second one faces west. Another built-in bench, right next to the fireplace. End of the day, glass of w**e, fire going, sun dropping behind the hills. The whole evening, built into one corner.
The third is the one everyone asks about. A window beside the freestanding wood tub, facing the sunset. Most bathrooms bury the tub in a dark corner with no view. This one gets the best light of the day.
None of these are accidents. Every window started with a question: what will you be doing here, and what time of day will you be doing it?
Get that right and the house fits your life. Get it wrong and you’re living around it.
