This is how we approach a new landscape project.
A great landscape project doesn’t start with a design. It starts with understanding the client.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that when you really take the time to listen, ask the right questions, understand the budget, and document what the client wants, everything else becomes a lot easier.
Your job isn’t to guess what the client wants or try to design everything on the spot. It’s to take the ideas they have in their head and turn them into something the rest of the team can clearly understand and eventually build.
That’s why the little details matter. The conversations, measurements, photos, notes, and even the way you walk through the property all help capture the client’s vision and communicate it to the design team.
Then, when it’s time to present the finished design, you’re not trying to convince the client to buy something they don’t understand. You’re showing them a plan that came from their own ideas and goals.
That’s how you build trust throughout the process.
Follow the process. Listen carefully. Take good notes. Document everything. And always represent the company well.
Most importantly, make sure the client feels confident that their vision is in good hands.
