If you are thinking of buying a home with wiring that looks like this please ensure you hire an Electrician to inspect the condition of the wiring, NOT A HOME INSPECTOR.

This BX wire is getting in rough shape in many homes around western PA. The wiring pictured below is in good shape at least at that box. This would be an ideal working condition on this type of wiring but is hardly ever the case anymore.

A lot of this wirings insulation that covers over the copper can crumble uncontrollably once it gets moved after decades of being not moved and the aging of the insulation.

If you ever want something as easy as light fixture changes or new receptacles or switches it can sometimes be impossible to work on and just crumble.

Your two options are to 1 - leave it alone and don't make any repairs or try to replace anything if it does crumble or 2 - the house needs rewiring work done.

Sometimes paying an electrician $500 to come inspect things can save you a $40,000 house Rewire and maybe change your mind and go with another house.

We highly appreciate recommendations! As you've probably experienced yourself, we are as easy, polite, patient and reasonable as possible. It might be modern day crazy to say we expect the same with our customers but things are starting to get out of hand.

If you do recommend us please make sure it's someone who doesn't want work done yesterday and respects us as much as we try and respect you! There's sometimes more than you think on resolving an issue or getting your job ready to go. AI may make it sound easy, but we are the ones who have to do it and do it properly at the end of the day.

If you are thinking of getting work done in a month or two, call now! Not the same week you want something done!

Emergency electrical service/main panel change in Moon Township! I'm very thankful this customer understood we can't be there in 5 minutes like HGTV to immediately get everything involved aligned to get her power back on! But we were there once she could get off of work to give her pricing and get everything set up to get the work done which was around 7:30 PM.

Her meter got highly corroded from water entering the cable above the meter enclosure causing a power failure.

If your cable that feeds the meter is very frayed/deteriorated water is more than likely getting into the meter enclosure causing corrosion and possibly the panel as well depending how it's fed.

Get the work done before it's an immediate emergency if you notice! Electricians aren't just sitting around picking their noses waiting for a call!

To all of our customers and future customers - we are unfortunately not Amazon with many thousands of employees and with endless resources. If you need a project done or are thinking about getting work done. Plan a month or two in advance. Most good tradesman are very busy people. The uptick of wanting work done within a few days is not realistic. We have customers scheduled, we need to think out your project, we need to get materials ready, we need to line up schedules and properly do your work.

Tradesmen are on the decline, we are busier than ever and a week or less expectation of wanting a price to work being completed during the busiest time of year is unfortunately not realistic.
