🚨 Tomorrow 🚨

IIAR Webinar: Fundamentals & Applications of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for Refrigeration Systems
Wednesday, April 11, 2026
11:00 AM-12:00 PM Eastern (U.S.) time

IIAR Members: FREE
Non-members: $50

The purpose of this webinar is to provide a practical foundation in the fundamentals and real-world application of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.

Participants will gain clear understanding of how VFDs influence system performance, energy use, demand, and reliability, with a focus on compressors, condensers, and ev***rators in commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.

The session emphasizes practical field guidance, control strategy considerations, and operational decision-making to ensure VFDs deliver measurable value without compromising system stability or safety.

🚨 ¡Nuevo Curso!

Help NRF/IIAR Research Relief Valves!

IIAR and the Natural Refrigeration Foundation have initiated a research project on pressure relief valves that relieve back into refrigeration systems. We are in need of both liquid and v***r donor relief valves to conduct the research. If you know of relief valves that will be replaced as a matter of routine maintenance, we would like to have them for the project. We seek valves from all types of facilities and conditions, whether they are well maintained or not.

In return for your effort, IIAR will provide free registration to the IIAR Annual Conference (an approximate $800 value) for one (1) person from the donor facility, and one (1) person from the contractor who completes the valve replacement (if a contractor is used). IIAR will pay for shipping the donor valves to our research contractor.

If you would like to participate, please contact Matt Chojnacki, [email protected] or Eric Smith, [email protected].

🚨AIM Act Update🚨

Supreme Court Petition Challenges EPA Authority Under AIM Act

A lawsuit challenging the EPA’s authority to implement the HFC phasedown under the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act of 2020 is seeking new life through a petition to the Supreme Court.

A non-profit civil rights group is petitioning the Supreme Court to reconsider Choice Refrigerants v. EPA on the behalf of a small, Georgia-based refrigerant business, arguing that the EPA has been given an unconstitutional amount of power, which has wiped away nearly a third of their market share.

5 Things You Should Know About Ammonia Refrigeration!

  • Almost all of the food on the family breakfast, lunch and dinner table passes through an ammonia refrigeration facility before reaching your grocery store including fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry and fish, frozen convenience foods, milk, cheese and ice cream, and beverages such as soft drinks, beer and wine.
  • 2. Does ammonia harm the ozone layer? Ammonia does not harm atmospheric ozone. Ammonia is a natural refrigerant. It is not a halocarbon like many of the synthetic refrigerants on the market. When halocarbons are released into the atmosphere, they eventually reach the stratosphere and the ozone layer. Halocarbons are extremely stable chemically with estimated life cycles of two to three centuries.
