SPA's Huntsville, AL, office hosted a STEM Fest at Madison Elementary School last week. The team kicked things off with a warm welcome from the Military Child Education Coalition and a message from AIEG Group Leader Mike Starling. SPA volunteer Anna Messer then brought the story "Ada Twist, Scientist" to life for our young learners.
From there, families explored a variety of hands-on STEM stations, including:
- STEM Building Challenge – Kids used popsicle sticks and clothespins to engineer bridges and towers.
- Rock Science Discovery – With magnifying glasses, scales, and rock kits, participants inspected, weighed, and matched different rock types.
- Snack Station – Children created their own custom snack mixes to enjoy or take home.
- Hot Wheels Speedometry – Using cars, tracks, and recording sheets, kids measured weights, timed runs, and experimented with added paperclip weight to see how it changed speed.
Throughout the night, drawings were held for SPA Matchbox cars, and the Kona Ice Truck made a special stop to keep everyone cool.
Thank you to all the families who joined, and our volunteers who made the evening so memorable.
