This is why old brick walls fail.

When the wrong mortar is used, it can be too hard for old brick. Instead of the mortar taking the stress, the brick does.

From Georgian and Federal homes to Greek Revival buildings, later Italianate and Victorian influences, and local forms like the flounder house, these layers are part of what gives Old Town its character.
