Friday night brings widespread frost to Alexandria, with a low around 31°F. ❄️

A quick weekend checklist before the real cold settles in:
• Check weatherstripping around windows and doors
• Disconnect garden hoses
• Cover any exposed outdoor faucets

Small steps now, big savings later.

🍂 Fall is here, and we’re basically just looking for an excuse to break out some new hats!

Between mornings that are crispier than our boss’s attitude, outdoor adventures, and days on the jobsite, we’ve got four fresh Baru hat styles ready for the season.

Brian’s been telling me to make more hats, so here they are. Now we’ll see if his favorite wins—or if we have to question his taste. 😂

Which one would you wear? Comment 1, 2, 3, or 4 on this post to vote! 🧢

We’ll randomly pick one person from the comments to win a Baru hat in the style they voted for! Your favorite doesn’t have to win the vote for you to win the hat. 😉

Entries close Monday, October 12, at noon Central, and we’ll announce the winner on this page that evening.

One entry per person. No purchase necessary.

Thank you, as always, for supporting Baru Contracting—and giving us an excuse to make more hats!

Keep building dreams and making them a reality.

🏡 Customer Spotlight—with a little extra reason to celebrate today! 🎂

This front remodel holds a special place in our hearts because it’s the home of Brian’s mom & dad. Getting to bring a beautiful new look to their home made this project especially meaningful to us.

Today is also Doug Garin's birthday, and we couldn’t let it pass without celebrating the man who started this whole Baru journey. As the founder of our company, he laid the groundwork for something we’ve been so grateful to carry forward.

To him and LeaAnn—thank you for your love, encouragement, and support through it all. Being able to work on your home is just one small part of how much you mean to us. ❤️

Happy birthday, Doug! We love you and hope you have a wonderful day!

Here’s a look at a project we’re proud of, for two people we appreciate more than we can put into words. It never ceases to amaze me how ideas on paper come to life—and how beautiful the end result can be.

Keep building dreams and making them a reality.

🔨 **BUILT SMARTER WITH BARU** 🔨

**This week: Not all nails are created equal!**

A nail is a nail… right? Not quite. 😆

From framing and roofing to trim work and even temporary construction, different nails are designed for very different jobs. Using the right fastener isn't just about making the job easier. It can make a difference in strength, appearance, and how well the finished project holds up over time.

We put together a quick guide to a few of the different types of nails and where you'll commonly find them used. 👇

Because sometimes the smallest materials on a jobsite have a pretty big job to do. 🔨

An oil change might not be the most exciting part of the job, but it’s an important one. 🔧

Keeping our trucks and equipment maintained helps us avoid breakdowns and longer downtime. It’s one of the ways we stay ready to show up and keep projects moving.

🏠 This Week’s Baru Project Spotlight

There’s just something satisfying about a good before & after. 👏

This home got a fresh exterior update, and what a difference it made! The darker siding paired with the crisp white trim completely changed the look of the house while still keeping the character of the home.

Sometimes an exterior update is all it takes to give your home a whole new feel. 🏡

We love getting to look back at where a project started and see the finished result come together.

Thinking about updating your home’s exterior? Baru Contracting handles residential and commercial projects of all sizes, and we’d be happy to help bring your ideas to life.

We had a great time today at the first annual Vikingland Builders Association of Alexandria Trap Shoot at Alexandria Shooting Park !

It was a fun day spent connecting with others in the trades, supporting a great local organization, and being part of something new that we hope continues for years to come.

We’re proud to be members of the VBA. The VBA is a great organization for the building industry and for our community as a whole.

We also want to give a thank you to Alexandria Shooting Park for hosting the event and for being such a great local place to bring people together.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the day a success — we’re already looking forward to next year!
