Just wrapped a complete backyard conversion in Aledo and we have to share this one.

The house sits on a greenbelt and the turf had to work with nature, not against it.

So we put down 1,750 square feet of Natural Blend Pro (the realistic three-tone yarn blend that disappears into native Texas landscape from any distance) plus a paver walkway from the back patio to the side yard. The walkway pulls the high-traffic dog-and-kid route out of the lawn entirely, which is what you have to do when there are 3 dogs and 4 busy kids living in the backyard from May to October.

Here is the best part of this build: eliminating 1,750 square feet of irrigated lawn in Aledo saves roughly $490 to $567 PER GROWING SEASON at current City of Aledo water rates. That is $4,900 to $5,670 over 10 years, before the next rate increase from Fort Worth (Aledo's wholesale water source).
