Celebrate 24 Years of H+Mdg. 100 Years of Route 66. Albuquerque Style.

Cruise over to H+Mdg for an evening of Route 66 nostalgia, New Mexico flavor, and a whole lot of fun. We’re opening our doors and inviting you to celebrate with us.

We’re celebrating our community by giving back, too. H+Mdg is proud to support Animal Humane New Mexico. Bring a donation and help us fill the road with a little extra kindness. They’re looking for: Pet food - dry or canned for cats or dogs, Pet treats, including pill pockets, Pet toys and chew toys, Leashes, Escape-proof collars and dog harnesses, Peanut butter, Cheese Whiz.

After 24 years, H+Mdg is entering its next chapter of leadership.

Founded in 2002 by Doug Majewski and Gregory Hartman, H+Mdg has grown to more than 40 professionals serving clients and communities through architecture, interior design, sustainability, digital practice, and historic preservation.

Doug Majewski has transitioned from President/CEO to Founding Principal and will remain actively engaged with the firm’s leadership team, clients, projects, and community.

Jeff Zellner, AIA, now serves as President and CEO. Kirstin Kalberg, MBA, has been named Vice President and COO.

This transition honors the firm’s foundation while looking ahead to continued growth, expanded expertise, and service to evolving client and community needs.

Thank you to the clients, partners, colleagues, and communities who have shaped H+Mdg’s journey.

Every officer deserves a space built for the work they do. The new UNM Police Department Headquarters at University and Mesa Vista was shaped with that purpose in mind, giving the university its first consolidated campus police facility while establishing a genuine presence at the edge of campus. Designed by H+Mdg, the building was conceived to feel approachable to the community while quietly meeting the operational demands of modern law enforcement.

At the center of the design is a clear division between public and secure zones. A generous lobby, community room, and raised plaza draw the campus community inward, while dispatch, booking, evidence, and holding remain protected within.

An all-electric building envelope, engineered for high performance, reflects a forward-looking approach to sustainability, with LEED certification currently underway. The finished facility reads less like a typical government building and more like a civic anchor, one that instills confidence in the campus it protects. UNM Police Headquarters shows what is possible when purpose, design, and partnership come together.

A few weeks ago, the coffee truck stopped by H+Mdg as a small thank-you to the team.

Our crew fueled up and took a well-earned break from the drawing board. There is nothing quite like stepping outside, catching up with colleagues, and enjoying a perfectly crafted cup.

Specialized care deserves a space that reflects it. Rio Grande Dermatology’s new facility along Alameda Boulevard was designed to do exactly that, offering expanded clinical capacity while creating a healthcare destination that feels as thoughtful as the care provided within it. Capturing views of the Sandia Mountains, the Rio Grande, and Balloon Fiesta Park, the building connects patients to the landscape of New Mexico from the moment they arrive.

At the heart of the design is a central skylight that serves as the building’s primary light source. Natural light streams down alongside a feature wall, diffusing softly through the interior and filling the clinic with warmth that puts patients at ease. High ceilings amplify that openness, making the space feel generous and refined well beyond its footprint.

Warm natural textures paired with bright, luminous surfaces create an atmosphere that is both elegant and welcoming. The result feels less like a medical office and more like a carefully curated environment, one that inspires confidence and invites calm for patients and staff alike.
