A few weeks ago, the coffee truck stopped by H+Mdg as a small thank-you to the team.

Our crew fueled up and took a well-earned break from the drawing board. There is nothing quite like stepping outside, catching up with colleagues, and enjoying a perfectly crafted cup.

The people behind the work are who make it all possible, and finding small ways to express our gratitude will always be worth it.

Specialized care deserves a space that reflects it. Rio Grande Dermatology’s new facility along Alameda Boulevard was designed to do exactly that, offering expanded clinical capacity while creating a healthcare destination that feels as thoughtful as the care provided within it. Capturing views of the Sandia Mountains, the Rio Grande, and Balloon Fiesta Park, the building connects patients to the landscape of New Mexico from the moment they arrive.

At the heart of the design is a central skylight that serves as the building’s primary light source. Natural light streams down alongside a feature wall, diffusing softly through the interior and filling the clinic with warmth that puts patients at ease. High ceilings amplify that openness, making the space feel generous and refined well beyond its footprint.

Warm natural textures paired with bright, luminous surfaces create an atmosphere that is both elegant and welcoming. The result feels less like a medical office and more like a carefully curated environment, one that inspires confidence and invites calm for patients and staff alike. Rio Grande Dermatology is a testament to what becomes possible when design, intention, and collaboration align.

Fresh air, great company, and plenty of laughs made for the perfect day at Fenton Lake!

Our H+Mdg Family Day was filled with fishing, hiking, delicious food, and quality time with our team and their families. Days like these are a great reminder to step away from the daily routine and enjoy the outdoors.

H+Mdg brought the competitive spirit to the AIA Albuquerque Bowling Tournament! With two teams representing our firm, it was a night of strikes, spares, and plenty of camaraderie with fellow design professionals.

Our team showed up ready to roll, proving that the same teamwork that drives great design translates just as well to the lanes. We are proud to announce that one of our teams took home 3rd place. However, whether it was a perfect strike or a well-earned spare, every pin knocked down was a win for the H+Mdg family.

A big thank you to AIA Albuquerque for organizing a fantastic event that brings our local architecture community together outside the office. We are already looking forward to next year!

Construction is underway on the Pueblo of Santa Clara’s new Governor’s Building, and the progress speaks to the vision behind this meaningful project. Designed to honor Santa Clara Pueblo culture through a contemporary lens, the building celebrates the community’s ancestors and local experiences while housing the Council Chamber and the Governor’s and Sheriff’s offices.

The Governor’s Building’s form draws inspiration from the rich traditions of Santa Clara Pueblo, including a planting calendar and pottery designs, resulting in a circular design that is both culturally resonant and architecturally striking.

H+Mdg is proud to serve as architect and designer on this project, working alongside the Santa Clara Pueblo community to bring a facility to life that reflects their identity, values, and future. Stay tuned as we continue to share progress from the field.

This past week, the H+Mdg team had the privilege of volunteering with Albuquerque Public Schools’ Story Time in the Park Program at Phil Chacon Park. We had the joy of reading to kids and spending time with the families that make our community so vibrant.

Watching young readers engage with books and let their imaginations run is a reminder of what community investment looks like. Great communities are built one connection at a time, and programs like this one are at the heart of what makes Albuquerque special.

We are proud to support APS and the families we serve alongside every day. Here’s to more stories shared and more community built together.

Today we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new People’s Market in Albuquerque’s International District, a project envisioned and selected by District 6 residents through the City’s 2025 Participatory Budgeting ABQ (PBABQ) Pilot Program.

Located at San Mateo and Kathryn, the market represents the power of community voices shaping meaningful investment in their neighborhood. By creating greater access to fresh food, supporting local growers, and providing a gathering place for residents, the People’s Market is helping strengthen the fabric of the International District.

Located adjacent to the Albuquerque Community Safety Center, which our team completed as part of the broader International District master plan, the market is another important step toward creating a more connected, vibrant, and resilient community.

Congratulations to everyone whose vision, advocacy, and partnership made this project possible.
