If you look closely there’s an older layer to this new building. At Eagle Nest Lake State Park, the existing vault toilets were preserved rather than demolished, and the new comfort station was built directly over them.

The original black vent pipes remain visible as a subtle reminder of what was retained, and serve an important purpose. If the power goes out, the vault toilets can remain operational even when the rest of the comfort station is closed.

This was a small design decision that reduced waste, preserved existing infrastructure, and added resilience for the long term of this State Park.

The Bernalillo County Recovery Support Center was designed to be more than a place for meetings and services. Warm materials, bright colors, natural light, and flexible gathering spaces create an environment that feels welcoming rather than institutional.

Open to residents, staff, volunteers, and the larger community, the Center reflects the idea that recovery is supported by connection, and that a small space can have a big impact.

The renovated space at 508 1st St celebrates both the building’s industrial past and its community history, from the blue cube entrance inspired by its former life as an ice house to the preserved murals and graffiti throughout the space. 516 ARTS will officially move into the space later this year, continuing its legacy as a place for art, creativity, and community in downtown Albuquerque.

Designed in collaboration with Wes Lansford Architecture for the City of Albuquerque and 516 ARTS.

Fresh photos of the Eagle Nest Lake State Park Campground Improvements and new Comfort Station are here!

Designed in partnership with EMNRD New Mexico State Parks Division, Cobb, Fendley & Associates, Inc. - CobbFendley, Consensus Planning, Inc., and Bridgers & Paxton this project provides campers with modern restroom and shower facilities, a sheltered gathering space to escape the rain, and thoughtful improvements that enhance the campground experience.

Inspired by the surrounding landscape, the roofline echoes the silhouette of the Moreno Valley mountains, while perforated metal panels provide protection from the prevailing winds without sacrificing views of beautiful Eagle Nest Lake.

Exciting times as construction officially gets underway on the New Mexico Reforestation Center in Mora, New Mexico!

We recently held our first construction meeting with Franken Construction Company, with discussions focused on preparing the site near the John T. Harrington Forestry Research Center for the first two greenhouses and headhouse in this phase of the project.

Because the site is densely forested in some areas, the team carefully reviewed which trees will be preserved and which will need to be removed and salvaged for other uses onsite, balancing construction needs with thoughtful stewardship of the existing landscape.
