forcing the key can turn a small annoyance into a broken key stuck in
the lock—never a fun surprise.

everyday key may be worn. For lubrication, use a product specifically
labeled for locks and follow its directions. Skip household oils,

People often forget that locks deal with dust and temperature shifts,
especially here in New Mexico. When the weather changes, you might

Have you ever put your key in your front door lock only to feel it
catch or resist turning completely? A lot of folks around Albuquerque
reach straight for a can of standard WD-40 or similar oily lubricants
when this happens, but that is actually one of the biggest mistakes
you can make with door hardware. Oil and grease attract dust, dirt,
and tiny debris floating in the air, turning into a sticky paste
inside the lock cylinder that jams things up even worse over time.
Instead, a dry graphite powder or a specialized lubricant is what you
really need to keep things moving smoothly. If your deadbolt or handle
is feeling gritty or giving you a hard time lately, don't force it and
