The National Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech University is a 19-acre historical park complete with bronze outdoor sculptures and a museum, all dedicated to sharing the historical and contemporary stories of Western life. On a recent visit to the Center, Lubbock staff (all Texas Tech grads!) got inspiration from the museum entrance, walkways, plants, and sculpture installations, all part of a landscape that tells a story of the historic, symbolic, and cultural heritage of ranching in the area.

Earlier this month, our Planning team traveled to outdoor recreation wonderland Doña Ana County, NM to facilitate the Río Grande Trail Commission meeting. As part of the Commission’s effort to engage the public and explore potential trail segments, they hosted a DinoTracks Site Tour and a City of Sunland Park, New Mexico River Trail Tour the day before the meeting. The evening ended with an epic Mesilla Gravaleros Bike Ride, hosted by Monumental Loop

Pardon our dust! 🤠
We're here with PREDOCK at the Rail Trail Central Crossing construction site where The City of Albuquerque is building an at-grade pedestrian and bicycle crossing of the railroad tracks at Central Ave. This creates a safe pedestrian connection between EDO and Downtown Albuquerque and will be one of the main entrances to the Rail Trail (and future home of the Tumbleweed)!

Planditos Give Back! 🫶✨
We spent a shift at the Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico sorting fresh produce to keep our community fed! With a mission of ending hunger and food insecurity in New Mexico, Roadrunner Food Bank provides food to hundreds of affiliated member partners around the state, reaching tens of thousands of hungry children, seniors and families every week.

As part of the City of Albuquerque’s ongoing efforts to increase green stormwater infrastructure throughout the city, the Silver Median GSI project will transform an underutilized space into an attractive and environmentally beneficial tool for capturing stormwater to support native trees and plants. Pland is currently wrapping up the construction documents for the design phase and construction should begin late summer or early fall of this year.

👏 Many thanks to our project partner, SIG-NAL, and the State of New Mexico’s Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department for funding this project through their Urban and Community Forestry Assistance Grant. The City’s Department of Municipal Development (DMD) and Bernalillo County NM provided project support as well, and the Nob Hill Neighborhood Association and City on a Hill Church hosted our public outreach meetings and provided helpful community input.
