EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT – CORE Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program Launches in Oskaloosa for North Market Street

The City of Oskaloosa has officially created the CORE (Community-Oriented Revitalization & Enhancement) Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program, a new initiative designed to encourage reinvestment in residential neighborhoods and support exterior home repairs or improvements. The program was developed following recommendations identified in the City's adopted plans and is intended to help strengthen neighborhoods through targeted revitalization efforts.

For a limited time, eligible properties can receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement funding for approved exterior improvement projects. (A minimum owner match is required.) $50,000 has been allocated for this initial area.

⚠️ Important: This initial grant program is currently available ONLY to properties located within CORE Neighborhood Area A, the designated area along North Market Street shown on the official eligibility map. Funding may rotate to other targeted areas over time if funding becomes available, but applications are currently limited to Area A.

✅ Eligible improvements include:
- Structural repairs to or restoration of foundations, porches, decks, and other structural elements. (minimum 50% owner match)
- Gutter, downspout, soffit, or fascia installation, repair or replacement. (minimum 50% owner match)
- Window or door repair or replacement. (minimum 50% owner match)
- Roof repair or replacement. (minimum 50% owner match)
- Siding or trim repair, cleaning, or installation. (minimum 50% owner match)
- Painting by hired contractor. (minimum 50% owner match)
- Painting by owner (DIY). (minimum 20% owner match, paint/primer only, purchased from Oskaloosa retailer)

This new program is an investment in neighborhood pride, housing preservation, and long-term community revitalization. If your property is located in Area A, now is the time to explore how the CORE Grant can help improve or repair your home.
