A kitchen remodel changes how a home looks and functions, but there's a real adjustment period before you get there. No stovetop, no usual sink, and daily routines like morning coffee and family dinners all shift for a while.

Homeowners who plan ahead tend to have a much smoother experience. A few things worth doing before demo day: set up a temporary kitchen (coffee maker, microwave, a cooler works), figure out your meal plan for the weeks ahead, and talk through dust control, noise timing, and a quiet zone for kids, pets, or anyone working from home.

Last month, Bennett Contracting partnered with Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York to welcome Albany High School students to one of our active job sites in Albany.

Students from Albany High's Tech class got an up-close look at a home addition in progress and had the chance to meet lead carpenters Larry Yerdon, Dave Baker, and Arthur Phillips, who walked them through the work and answered their questions about residential remodeling and the career paths that come with it.

We love any opportunity to connect with the next generation of tradespeople. Thanks to Junior Achievement for making it happen!

Take a walk with us through this Ravena, NY log cabin renovation!

The original space was full of charm, but the homeowners wanted a little modern love. Notice how we paired the natural beauty of new Hickory floors and upper cabinets with rich navy-blue Tedd Wood Fine Cabinetry luxury base cabinets. That bold blue carried upward in the custom herringbone backsplash and even in the customized electrical plate covers—small details that make a big impact.

Compliments all around to Project Manager George Griffin, Designers Sarah McDonald & Sarah Domery, and our crew, Dave Clark & Matthew Beckwith! Dave and Matt's problem-solving helped us work around height and weight restrictions.

Sometimes the best transformation isn't about starting over; it's about smart updates that keep the charm you already love.

This Rensselaer, NY bathroom got a fresh update while keeping its traditional character intact. Project Manager Jason Watson and Designer Sarah Domery swapped an oversized garden tub for a smaller, more accessible one, and reworked the shower with low-maintenance Onyx panels and built-in grab bars for aging in place.

A slightly larger Executive Cabinetry vanity adds storage, and Cambria's Hermitage quartz brings it all together with a timeless finish.
