We are excited to welcome George “Tre’” Smith to the MetroPower team!
Tre’s journey with MetroPower began several years ago at a Bainbridge High School career fair. As a student, he approached our team with a clear goal: to build a career in the electrical construction industry. We encouraged his enthusiasm and advised him to stay focused on completing high school first. Tre’ took that advice to heart and remained committed to his goals.
Over the years, we stayed connected, and this May, we were proud to officially welcome him as a MetroPower employee.
What makes this story especially meaningful is the full-circle connection behind it. Tre’s construction teacher, Greg Harrell, also taught MetroPower Senior Operations Manager Keenan Adams when he was a student in 2007. Seeing another Bainbridge High School student pursue a successful path into the skilled trades is a testament to the lasting impact of dedicated educators and strong community partnerships.
MetroPower is grateful for our continued relationship with Bainbridge High School and for the efforts of Marcus Francisco and our Workforce Development Team. Their dedication to connecting with students and demonstrating the opportunities available in the skilled trades is helping build the next generation of craft professionals.
Stories like Tre’s remind us why workforce development is so important. We are proud to invest in local talent and create opportunities for students to build rewarding careers right here in the communities we serve.
Welcome to the team, Tre’! We look forward to seeing all that you accomplish.

ESS of Albany is proud to partner with Lee County High School’s Allied Health & Medicine Program to help prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals through hands-on learning experiences.

As part of this collaboration, ESS donated and installed a Rauland Responder 5 Nurse Call System in the school’s clinical simulation lab, complete with code blue buttons and signaling lights, to create a realistic healthcare training environment. Students now have exposure to the same communication systems used in local hospitals, including Phoebe Putney Health System facilities.

We proudly recognize George Pressley, Jr., one of MetroPower, Inc.’s most respected and beloved Department Managers, for receiving the 2026 Book of Golden Deeds Award last night from the Exchange Club of Lee County. This is one of the highest honors bestowed by the Exchange Club and is presented to individuals whose lives reflect extraordinary service, humility, and a genuine servant’s heart.
George was truly surprised when his name was announced and he was presented with this distinguished award. The Book of Golden Deeds Award, established in 1919 by The National Exchange Club, honors unsung heroes who quietly dedicate themselves to improving their communities without seeking recognition or reward. It is among the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious community service honors.
This recognition describes George perfectly. Anyone who knows George knows the kindness, generosity, and leadership he demonstrates every day. He has long embodied the principles of servant leadership—putting others first, leading by example, and serving wherever there is a need. Whether representing MetroPower in the community, riding his Harley to help raise funds for charitable causes, or volunteering as Santa to bring joy to families during the holidays, George consistently gives of himself with enthusiasm and compassion.
At MetroPower, servant leadership is one of our core values, and George Pressley is a shining example of what that truly means. His dedication to others, both within our company and throughout the community, makes us incredibly proud.
Congratulations, George, on this well-deserved honor. We celebrate you and thank you for the positive impact you continue to make in the lives of so many.

On Tuesday, MetroPower and CarolinaPower went head-to-head in our first-ever Battle of the Bolts — a friendly competition showcasing each company’s top apprentices. ⚡🔧
This exciting event was a perfect complement to National Apprenticeship Week (February 9–15), a time dedicated to celebrating everything that makes apprenticeships so impactful.
At MetroPower, we are committed to investing in the next generation of skilled trades professionals. Through partnerships with high schools, technical schools, and colleges, we provide mentoring and hands-on apprenticeship opportunities that introduce and prepare young adults for careers in the electrical and plumbing industries.
We’re proud to mark this milestone as our first annual Apprentice Competition alongside CarolinaPower. Both teams gave it their all, and the scores were incredibly close!
Congratulations to CarolinaPower’s apprentice team for winning the CPI/MPI Battle of the Bolts Competition in Columbia, SC. 👏
Carolina Power’s winning team included: Shawn Vickery, Alex Smith, and Caden Dillon.
Representing MetroPower with skill and determination were: Gage Stewart, Fernando Campos, and Wyatt Allen.
We’re incredibly proud of all these young professionals and look forward to continuing this tradition in the coming years!

On Monday, December 29, MetroPower was proud to attend the Georgia Southern University J-Lab Bowl at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where Georgia Southern took on Appalachian State University.
Hosted by GSU President Dr. Kyle Marrero and Director of Development Tajae Francis, Alberto Peluzzo, Duane Howell, and Annie Howell of MPI enjoyed an exciting day cheering on the Eagles.
MPI and Georgia Southern University continue to share a strong partnership focused on developing future talent through GSU students and alumni—and what a great way to celebrate that relationship. The game kicked off at 1:00 PM CT and ended with a big 29–10 victory for GSU!
