🏗️ BUILD SMART: Vertical or Horizontal Panels?

When designing a metal building, one of the most important decisions you'll make is whether to choose horizontal or vertical metal panels.

While both are durable, vertical panels are the preferred choice for most customers planning a long-term investment.

Here's why:

✅ Better debris runoff – Rain, leaves, pine needles, and dirt are much less likely to collect on vertical panels, making the building easier to maintain over time.

✅ More interior bracing – As shown in this week's graphic, buildings with vertical wall panels require additional horizontal framing behind the siding. This creates a stronger wall system while supporting the vertical panel orientation.

✅ Ideal for larger buildings – Because of the improved structural support and lower maintenance requirements, vertical panels are often the best option for larger garages, workshops, RV storage buildings, barns, and commercial projects.

That doesn't mean horizontal panels are a bad choice. For many customers, they're an excellent way to reduce the initial cost while still getting a quality building. The right choice depends on your budget, your intended use, and your long-term goals.
