Tech Talk Tuesday with George: Protect your HVAC System

Being here in Georgia, we see a lot of electrical instability between thunderstorms, lightning, and power outages, it’s pretty common for systems to take a hit from power surges. Most homeowners don’t realize that every time the power flickers or comes back on, it can send a spike straight through your HVAC system.

Your indoor and outdoor units both have sensitive electrical components things like capacitors, contactors, circuit boards, and even your compressor. Those parts aren’t cheap, and unfortunately, they’re usually the first things to fail after a surge.

That’s why I always recommend surge protection on both the indoor and outdoor units. It acts like a shield for your system absorbing or redirecting those voltage spikes before they can damage your equipment. It helps prevent nuisance breakdowns like blown capacitors and protects major components like your compressor and control boards from premature failure.

Especially with how often we get storms and outages around here, it’s one of the best investments you can make. It’s a small upfront cost compared to replacing parts or worse, a full system repair.

Honestly, it’s my number one recommended accessory for protecting your HVAC system and helping it last as long as possible.

Tech Talk Tuesday with Caleb & Dakoda: AC Tune-Up vs. Repair; What’s the Difference?

➡️ A tune-up is a preventive appointment to go over any deficiencies your system may have, ensure your system is clean, & get your system ready for peak season performance.

➡️ A repair call is when your system is currently not operating, struggling to properly cool your home, or lacking airflow to areas of your home.

Simple way to remember it:
A tune-up helps prevent problems, identify concerns, and ensures performance.
A repair fixes a problem that’s already happening.

Stay ahead of the heat and keep your system running strong.

What a fantastic day at Touch-a-Truck at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds in Rome, GA on May 8!

We loved being part of this community event and helping support the new children’s museum. Seeing so many kids and families exploring, asking questions, and enjoying the trucks made the day even more special.

We’re proud to support a place that will bring creativity, curiosity, and hands-on learning to children in our community!

Tech Talk Tuesday with Phoenix in our Plumbing Division

Quick homeowner tip: don’t forget about your shower head 🚿

When we think about home maintenance, we usually think about the bigger things such as water heaters, HVAC systems, toilets, drains, filters, and all the projects that end up on the weekend to-do list.

But one small thing that often gets overlooked is the shower head.

Over time, shower heads can collect mineral buildup, sediment, hard water deposits, and clogged nozzles. When that happens, you may start to notice weaker water pressure, uneven spray, or water shooting off in random directions.

A few signs it might be time to clean or replace yours:

-Weak or uneven spray
-White or crusty buildup around the nozzles
-Water spraying sideways
-Pressure does not feel like it used to
-You have cleaned it before, but the issue keeps coming back
-It has been several years since it was replaced

Before replacing it, try this simple fix first: remove the shower head, soak it in white vinegar, scrub the nozzles, rinse it well, and reinstall it.

If it is still clogged, corroded, leaking, or not flowing well after that, it may be time for a new one.

The good news? This is usually a quick and affordable upgrade that can make your shower feel noticeably better and better yet, no major project required.

Small home maintenance items like this are easy to forget, but they can make a big difference in your everyday routine.

What a weekend at Smoke on the Lake in Acworth! 🔥

We were proud to sponsor the benches at this year’s Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival at Logan Farm Park, and we loved seeing the community come together for great BBQ, live music, friendly competition, and a great cause.

Hosted by the Rotary Club of North Cobb, the City of Acworth, Smoke on the Lake is more than a fun weekend, the proceeds support local charities throughout the community. We’re grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event and thankful to everyone who stopped by, took a seat, and enjoyed the event!
