Today, we’re celebrating an incredible milestone—10 years of service from Superintendent Tim Zeiler!

Tim’s journey with J. Vinton Schafer began as an intern while attending York College of Pennsylvania before joining the team full-time in 2016. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, he advanced from Assistant Project Manager to Superintendent, where he now leads some of our most complex higher education, K-12, and public sector projects.

Over the past decade, Tim has become known for his proactive problem-solving, strong leadership in the field, and ability to successfully manage projects from preconstruction through closeout. Whether overseeing occupied renovations, large-scale new construction, or multi-phase projects, he consistently delivers quality results while fostering strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and project teams.

From projects at the University of Maryland, Howard County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, and many others, Tim’s impact can be seen across the region and throughout our company’s continued success.

Congratulations to our team members on successfully completing the ABC Greater Baltimore Professional Development Program (PDP). What a night for the J. Vinton Schafer Construction team at the CMAA Baltimore Chapter Project Achievement Awards!

We're honored to win First Place in three categories, reflecting the diverse expertise and dedication of our teams across education and commercial projects. Adding to the achievement, one of our projects also earned Runner-Up honors behind another JVS project in the same category, giving JVS the distinction of being recognized multiple times throughout the evening.

The cherry on top was receiving the prestigious Project of the Year Award for the Cole Head House Renovation & Fit-Out project. This recognition reflects the collaboration, innovation, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by our project team, trade partners, design partners, and client.

While awards are never the goal, it is incredibly rewarding to see the hard work of our employees recognized by our industry peers. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to these outstanding projects and helped make JVS one of the most recognized firms at this year's banquet.

Today, J. Vinton Schafer Construction proudly celebrates an incredible milestone—45 years of service from our President, Tom Gnau.

Tom joined J. Vinton Schafer in 1981 and has built an extraordinary career through hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to our people, clients, and projects. Beginning as an apprentice carpenter, Tom worked his way through nearly every role in the construction process, including foreman, assistant superintendent, superintendent, project engineer, project manager, and project executive, before ultimately becoming President. His journey is a true testament to what can be achieved through perseverance, leadership, and a passion for construction.

Over the past four and a half decades, Tom has helped shape countless landmark projects across Maryland and beyond, while mentoring generations of construction professionals and fostering the culture that makes J. Vinton Schafer what it is today. His leadership has been instrumental in our continued growth, reputation for excellence, and commitment to delivering outstanding results for our clients.

Tom's story reflects the values that define our company: integrity, craftsmanship, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement. We are grateful for his leadership, vision, and dedication to the firm and the communities we serve.

J. Vinton Schafer Construction was proud to support the 2026 Harford County Education Foundation Chip in FORE Kids Golf Classic as an Executive Sponsor this year.

After traditionally participating as a tee sponsor, we were excited to increase our support in recognition of our partnership with Harford County Public Schools and our role as Construction Manager for the New Harford Academy project.

The event raised an incredible $59,000 to support students throughout Harford County Public Schools and help remove barriers to learning. We are grateful to be part of an event that brings the community together to make a meaningful impact for local students.

Thank you to the Harford County Education Foundation for hosting another great tournament and for everything you do to unlock every child’s potential.
