If your house still feels humid, a few things could be going on:

• Your system may be oversized and cooling the house too quickly

• The AC may not be running long enough to remove enough moisture

• Airflow could be restricted by a dirty filter or duct issue

"My AC drain pan is full. What should I do?"

A full drain pan usually means the water your AC removes from the air isn’t draining the way it should.

Here’s what you can do:

1️⃣ Turn the system off if the pan is overflowing or close to overflowing. This helps prevent water damage while you figure out what’s going on.

2️⃣ Remove the standing water with towels or a wet/dry vacuum.

3️⃣ Check your air filter. A severely clogged filter can restrict airflow and contribute to a frozen coil. When that ice melts, you can end up with more water than the drain system can handle.

4️⃣ Check the condensate drain line. Dirt, algae and buildup can clog the line and cause water to back up into the pan. A wet/dry vacuum on the outside drain opening can sometimes clear a simple blockage.

🚫 We wouldn’t recommend pouring harsh drain-cleaning chemicals into the system. Depending on where the blockage is, those chemicals can end up somewhere you don’t want them.

If the pan fills back up, the system keeps shutting off, or you can’t find the blockage, that’s when it’s time to have the drain system inspected.
