The Glass That Disappears
Look at a high-end retail facade and you'll sometimes see glass with no visible frame at all — just pure, uninterrupted transparency. That's structural glazing at work. Instead of a traditional aluminium border, the glass is bonded directly to the building structure using high-performance silicone or held by precision-engineered stainless steel "spider" point-fixings. The result is a skin of glass that seems to float.
The engineering behind this look is precise and demanding. Each fixing point must transfer wind loads, seismic forces, and the dead weight of glass — sometimes 400 kg per panel — with tolerances measured in millimetres. This is why the details that make a building beautiful are always, at their core, a structural problem solved.
