With a global range and international experience from some of the leading architecture/design firms in the world, CO-LAB offers highly customized solutions across a range of project types and scales

including: residential, hospitality, cultural, commercial, urban design, interior design, product design and conceptualization. CO-LAB was founded by Joshua Beck and Joana Gomes in 2010. Joshua Beck received a Masters in Architecture from UC Berkeley in 2004 and a Bachelors of Environmental Design from CU Boulder in 1996. Joshua has over 14 years of experience in the combined fields of architecture and construction. He worked for five years as an Architect and Project Leader at Rem Koolhaas’s Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam, NL. Most recently, Joshua worked Michael Kovac Architects where he was leading several high end residential projects. Joshua is also a trained wooden boat builder and skilled craftsman. Joana Gomes graduated in architecture from Oporto University (FAUP) in 2006 and immediately joined MVRDV with Winy Maas where she worked as an architect for four years. Joana joined FREE - Fernando Romero in 2009 as the Design Director of the Los Angeles office. In 2010 Joana was appointed design director in FREE’s main office in Mexico City, where she worked until 2013.

La Reserva Tulum / 2026
A dialogue between architecture and jungle.

The residences open toward terraces, pools, and layered native vegetation, preserved and woven back into daily life. Stone underfoot, water within reach, green on every horizon.

The project was shaped by the existing landscape — filtering light, creating privacy, holding shadows as they sway with the breeze.

The architecture dissolves, allowing each space to feel
immersed in the tropical environment.

Los departamentos se abren hacia su entorno mediante terrazas, albercas y vistas a la vegetación nativa. Piedra bajo los pies, agua al alcance de la mano y verde en cada horizonte.

El proyecto fue concebido a partir del paisaje existente: filtrando la luz, creando privacidad y acogiendo las sombras que se mueven suavemente con la brisa.

La arquitectura se desvanece para permitir que cada espacio se sienta inmerso en el entorno tropical.
Una invitación a habitar la selva.

A dialogue between architecture and jungle.

The residences open toward terraces, pools, and layered native vegetation. Stone underfoot, water within reach, green on every horizon.

The project was shaped by the existing landscape — filtering light, creating privacy, holding shadows as they sway with the breeze.

La Reserva Tulum / 2026.

Each residence at La Reserva carries its own atmosphere.
A composition of architecture, interiors, furniture and objects, paired with soft light and handmade details.

Bespoke furniture, ceramics, and decorations were designed and fabricated with local artisans, creating interiors that feel warm, tactile and rooted in place.

A living experience shaped by craft, materiality and the surrounding Tulum jungle.

Architecture, interiors and landscape come together through generous garden areas, native vegetation and shared amenities.

Each residence opens to its own private patio or terrace, creating intimate outdoor spaces to lounge by the pool, enjoy the sunset, or stargaze under the Tulum sky.

A moment of stillness designed around privacy, community and a deep connection to nature.

is a residential project of 42 units in Tulum, designed with a focus on quality, openness, and connection to nature.

The residences are arranged in a staggered layout that creates private gardens, rooftop terraces, double-height spaces, and open façades that welcome natural light, airflow, and the prevailing breeze.

Externally, the architecture is intentionally understated. The irregular building plan responds to the existing trees accommodating them whenever possible. Tropical landscaping is designed to complement the connection between indoor and outdoor.
Inside, warm tones and natural materials create a calm, grounded atmosphere connected to the
landscape.

Casa Adama is a hillside home in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, located within .world

The house follows the natural slope of the land and is organized across two levels. At the top, where the site is flatter, the living areas follow an open-plan layout and feature floor-to-ceiling doors, creating a seamless connection between the interiors and the wraparound terrace with pool, overlooking the tropical landscape and sweeping mountain views.
On the lower level, the bedrooms offer privacy and a quieter connection to the surrounding landscape.

The house broke ground last November, and we are excited to see it come to life!
