Oasis is an architectural project inspired by Konya’s karst sinkholes, designed not to dominate the land but to engage in a healing dialogue with it. Emphasizing situatedness, it is deeply rooted in its environment—both physically and philosophically. Built from site-sourced rammed earth, it acts as a steward of memory, climate, and identity. Incorporating passive systems, solar power, and ecological design, Oasis functions as a zero-energy SCADA facility and learning space. It envisions architecture as a quiet, regenerative force—focused on listening, restoring, and reconnecting with place.

ÜSKÜDAR MEYDANI İÇİN EN İYİ PROJEYİ
İSTANBULLULAR SEÇECEK

İBB'nin Üsküdar meydanı için açtığı “Üsküdar’da Mimar Sinan’ı Anmak” isimli uluslararası yarışmaya birçok ekip katıldı. Finale kalan üç proje halkın oyuna sunuluyor.

Oylama İBB'nin istanbulsenin.org sitesinde yapılıyor.

18 sıra no’lu proje çarpıcı bir yaklaşımla “Mimar Sinan’ı anmak için meydana yeni bir anıt yapısı inşa etmeye gerek yok” diyor.

Meydanın yapıya değil yeşil alanlara ve ağaç gölgelerine ihtiyacının olmasından yola çıkan 18 no'lu proje önerdiği park alanlarının içinde farklı noktalardaki Mimar Sinan eserlerinin doğrultularıyla bir yürüyüş deneyimi sunarak Sinan’ı kamusal alanda gündelik hayatın bir parçası kılmayı amaçlıyor.

Proje, Üsküdardaki kentsel boşlukları doğal zemin ağırlıklı, ağaçlık parklara dönüştürüyor. Bu parkların yüzey suyunun emilimine ve toplanmasına destek sağlayamasıyla alanın, sel ve taşkınlara karşı dirençli kılması planlanıyor.

Oluşturulan doğal zeminler alanda mikroklimayı destekleyerek diğer canlı türleri ve insanlar için iklimsel konfor açısından zengin, yaşanılabilir, ekolojik bir kamusal deneyime dönüştürüyor. 

Projede, bir damla suyun bile önemini anlamaya başladığımız günümüzde, yağmur suyu toplama sistemleriyle suyun yeniden kullanımına olanak sağlayan çözümler üretiliyor.

18 no'lu projenin amacı Üsküdar’da Sinan’ı anarken, insanlar ve diğer canlılar için ortak yaşam senaryolarını mümkün kılan yaşanabilir bir kent ortamı sunmak.

Üsküdar’ın daha ekolojik, sürdürülebilir bir geleceğe kavuşması için 18 no’lu projeye oy verelim.

FIELD SCHOOLS is designed for supporting the community based organizations in the local regions of tropical savanna territory of Africa. With it is building components the project offers to start the interaction between unemployed population (in construction) and local authorities. In the construction process of the school unemployed locals will be trained in the manufacture of stabilized earth and shading components.

For this reason the project offers variation of natural materials according to different regions such as reeds, branches, timber,  earth, cob, bamboo which would easily be obtained, processed and manufactured by the local people. The tropical savanna climate was decisive in design process. For the year round high temperatures and preventing perpendicular lights of the sun shadow and semi shadow areas are created in the courtyard playground. According to the needs it is optional to use wind generators positioning to the strongest possible wind.
The heavy rainy summer season of tropical savanna climate become and adventage for rainwater storage. Grey water is also used as a renewable water source in toilets. The  project’s green design strategies stresses the vulnerability of the local ecology.

The pyramidal mud huts of vernacular African architecture was an inspiration for the project. Taking the inspiration from the vernacular architecture, the flat top pyramidal roofs respond both to heavy rainy summer season, provide passive ventilation and generate electricity with photovoltaic panels.

İnsanı ve onun ihtiyaçlarını merkeze alan bilim anlayışı yerine, çevreyi ve onun sorunlarını merkeze alan tüm canlılar/kullanıcılar için ekolojik kapsayıcı, ortak bir yaşam alanı.
Haliç, İstanbul boğazı ile buluşan sığ suları ile flora ve fauna için eşsiz bir habitat. Bu habitatı oluşturan temel etmen su, akıntı ve akışlar. Haliç coğrafi sisteminin İstanbul’a kazandırdığı biyoçeşitlilik İstanbul’un medeniyetlerin başkenti olmasındaki temel sebeplerden birini oluşturuyor. Habitat Haliç projesi bir yüzyıl önceye kadar Haliç sularında yer alan özellikle kuş ve balık faunasını ve su vejetasyonunu geri kazandırmaya, Haliç'in potansiyel ekosistemini geliştirmeye yönelik bir sistemler bütünü sunuyor.

The Golden Horn is a unique habitat for flora and fauna with its shallow waters meeting the Bosphorus. The main factor that creates this habitat is water, currents and flows. The biodiversity that the Golden Horn geographical system brings to Istanbul is one of the main reasons why Istanbul is the capital of civilizations. The Habitat Golden Horn project offers a set of systems aimed at restoring especially the bird and fish fauna and aquatic vegetation that existed in the waters of the Golden Horn until a century ago, and to develop the potential ecosystem of the Golden Horn.

OKTAA İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından açmış olduğu Salgınlar ve Sağlık Emekçilerini Anma Mekanı Tasarım Yarışması’nda birincilik ödülünü kazanmıştır.

Anıta karşı / Karşı anıt

Anma mekânı geçmiş ve o an arasında bir ilişki kurar. Bu ilişki kişi ve mekân arasında kurulan etkileşimin bir sonucudur. Toplumsal olarak geçmişi hatırlama ve hatırlatmak, salgınların nedenleri, etkileri ve sonuçları ile bağ kurmak için kurgulanan sağlık emekçilerini anma mekanı, anıtlaşarak ölümü yüceltmez, sembolik bir yapı/heykel olarak anma etkinliğini merkezileştirmek yerine kamusal alana/parka ve gündelik hayata anma eylemini yaygın kılarak kişiyi kuşatır. Anılar, anıtlar ve tarihler, şimdiki deneyimlerle süreksiz varlıklardır ve geçmiş ile şimdi arasındaki sürekliliği bir kurguya çevirirler. Dolayısı ile anılar, anıtlar ve tarihler, geçmişle başa çıkmak için semantik araçlar olarak temsiliyet kazanır. Önerilen anma mekanı geçmişle kurulacak semantik ilişkiyi deneyime çevirmeyi hedefler. Kullanıcının hafızası, tahayyülleri ile katmanlaşarak yeni deneyimlere, temsillere olanak sağlar.

OKTAA won the first prize in the Design Competition for the Commemoration of Epidemics and Health Workers, opened by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

Againts Monument/ Counter monument

The memorial site establishes a relationship between the past and the present. This relationship is the result of the interaction established between the person and the place. The place of commemoration of health workers, which is designed to remember and remind the past socially, to connect with the causes, effects and consequences of epidemics, does not glorify death by becoming a monument, instead of centralizing the commemoration event as a symbolic structure/sculpture, it encompasses the public space/park and daily life by making commemoration widespread. . Memories, monuments, and histories are impermanent entities with present experiences, and they turn the continuity between past and present into a fiction. Therefore, memories, monuments and histories are represented as semantic tools to deal with the past.
