ศูนย์การค้าที่เปิดให้แสงเข้าถึง ให้ต้นไม้ได้เติบโต ให้ผู้คนได้สัมผัสสุนทรียภาพไปพร้อมๆ กับการจับจ่ายใช้สอย

ผังพื้นที่ร้านค้าทรงกลีบดอกคูน เกิดเป็นที่ว่างระหว่างกัน แสงแดดจึงเข้ามาได้ทั้งจากด้านบน และเล็ดรอดมาจากด้านข้าง

กลายเป็นพื้นที่สาธารณะภายในอาคาร มีแสงและพื้นที่สำหรับต้นไม้ให้เติบโต

ต้นก้ามปูขนาดใหญ่เดิมในพื้นที่ เราเก็บรักษาและย้ายมาปลูกไว้รอบโครงการ รอวันที่มันจะแตกกิ่งใหม่ และเติบโตขึ้นอีกครั้ง

A shopping mall that allows natural light to reach inside, giving trees room to grow and people a chance to experience beauty alongside everyday shopping.

The retail spaces are arranged as flower petals, creating open spaces between them. Sunlight can enter from above and filter in from the sides.

These spaces become public areas within the building, bringing in natural light and room for trees to grow.

The large existing rain trees on the site were carefully preserved and relocated around the project, waiting for the day they grow new branches and flourish once again.

ศูนย์การค้าขนาดใหญ่กว่า 60,000 ตารางเมตร เราพยายามให้อาคารโปร่งเบาขึ้นด้วยการลดทอนรูปทรงอาคารให้เป็นกลีบดอกคูนเรียงต่อกัน

พื้นที่ว่างระหว่างกลีบ เป็นเส้นโค้งนำพาผู้คนเข้าไปในอาคาร พร้อมเปิดให้แสงธรรมชาติลอดผ่านเข้ามาถึงกลางลาน

พื้นที่เหล่านี้สร้างประสบการณ์ใหม่ให้กับการเดินห้าง เปิดให้ผู้คนได้เดินเล่น พักผ่อน และเพลิดเพลินไปกับต้นไม้ ดอกไม้ และกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ภายในศูนย์การค้าไปพร้อม ๆ กัน

Central Khonkaen Campus / EKAR Architects
With over 60,000 square meters of retail space, we wanted to make the building feel lighter and more open by breaking down its form into a series of connected golden shower flower petals.

The curved spaces between the petals lead people into the building, while allowing natural light to filter through to the central courtyard.

These spaces create a new experience of shopping, where people can walk, relax, and enjoy the trees, flowers, and activities throughout the mall.

Architizer recently published a thoughtful piece by Pat Finn on “After the Starchitect : The End of Heroic Architecture.” It’s a conversation that feels very close to what we’ve been exploring at EKAR for the past 10 years.

Over time, the idea of Life Lab has become clearer through our work. Exploring how architecture can belong to its place, its people, and the life around it.
And now, we feel that it is beginning to take us somewhere beyond Life Lab.

We’re glad to see Mae On Art Forest included in this conversation.
