Stopped to just stare out at the water in Huinnyeoul Culture Village. It’s wild to think this peaceful coastal stretch was once a wartime refuge. Now, it’s this beautiful seaside escape where you can just pause and breathe.

“Having Moment” has been pinned on my map since before this Busan trip was even fully planned. I can’t even remember where I originally found the recommendation, but I’m so glad I made it. The front entrance is right by the bus stop and can feel a bit crowded with people figuring out their routes, but once you step inside, it completely opens up. It’s surprisingly spacious, from the rooftop all the way to the seaside windows.

Managed to get incredibly lucky and snagged a seat right facing the water. Ordered their signature black sesame cream latte. The roasted sesame foam on top is an absolute must—it instantly melted a heavy, hot day into the perfect sunny afternoon.

Sat there for a while just watching the ocean and the ships sailing slowly across the horizon. It completely quieted my thoughts. A sketchbook can’t fully capture that specific kind of calm, but just looking at the ink on the page brings the feeling right back.

Accidental finds are always the best ones. Stumbled upon KANPAI B**R while wandering around the alleys of Jeonpo Cafe Street, right at that exact moment when my feet were tired and I just needed a cold one to wind down.

This little Izakaya just stood out and practically pulled me in. Inside, it’s all standing tables, with walls completely plastered in hand-drawn anime, photos, and messages. The energy is so loud and lively. I posted up, ordered a pint, and pulled out the sketchbook to try and capture the chaotic, fun details of the room.
They pour Yebisu and Sapporo on draught, which absolutely hit the spot, but the food completely stole the show. Everything came out hot, unbelievably crispy, and paired flawlessly with the b**r.

The absolute highlight of the night, though, was the staff. While I was drawing, a few of them came over to see what I was working on. My Korean is non-existent, so we somehow ended up chatting in Japanese instead. We bonded over a shared love for anime, and they were so sweet about my art that they surprised me with a free cup of ice cream. Just one of those perfect, unscripted travel moments you can’t plan for 🍻

Taking shelter from the rain inside Brown Hands. It’s housed in the former Baekje Hospital, built back in 1922. They’ve kept the raw, historic architecture intact, which creates this amazing contrast with the contemporary furniture scattered around. It is exactly the kind of space that begs to be sketched.

They pour two house blends here: Mayfair, which has a sweet floral profile meant for black coffee, and Midnight, hitting notes of chocolate and roasted almonds that pair perfectly with milk.

I went with an iced Americano, but the absolute highlight—even more than the architecture—was the carrot cake the staff recommended to go with it. Just sitting here, enjoying the pairing, taking in the brickwork, and waiting for the rain to clear out.

After hours of walking through exhibitions, there is honestly nothing better than stepping outside, grabbing a cold b**r, and finding a spot by the bay to watch the sun go down.

West Kowloon has really evolved into something special. It feels like so much more than just a museum district now—it’s a proper community space where everyone just comes to hang out and catch their breath. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite places to end a day in the city. Just sitting there, watching the light change over the water, and letting the camera rest for a bit.

Thank you Toey Wong for always capturing the moments

It’s been months, but the magnificent pieces from the Old Kingdoms still stick with me. A quiet reminder of exactly why I love history so much.

Visiting Egypt—seeing the pyramids and sarcophagi with my own eyes—has always been at the top of my bucket list. The Ancient Egypt Unveiled exhibition at the Hong Kong Palace Museum fulfilled a small part of that dream, but mostly, it just fueled the fire to make the real trip happen soon.

It’s funny to think it all started with The Mummy movie when I was a kid. Somewhere between being terrified of flesh-eating scarabs and fascinated by the lore, I was converted into a full-blown history nerd, which eventually led me to study archaeology in university.

My day-to-day life now might be far away from the field, managing projects and marketing campaigns instead of uncovering artifacts, but standing in front of these pieces brings it all right back. Just looking, reading, and taking in the details—it still gives me the exact same joy and inspiration it always did.

Started the morning right at Mason Pocket, an another tucked perfectly between Sai Ying Pun and Sheung Wan. Grabbed an almond croissant and a cinnamon roll ( and a cup of iced coffee) —honestly, exactly what I needed.

The vibe here is incredibly refreshing, with this enormous space both inside and out. I immediately gravitated toward the tile work. The colors and the clean, minimal lines of the space were just too good to pass up, so I pulled out the sketchbook to get it down on paper. It’s the perfect quiet moment with my coffee before heading out for a full day of museum exploration

Note to self: come back a little later next time. We arrived just a bit too early for their signature egg and pistachio tarts to come fresh out of the oven.
