What if we applied the principles of a sponge to the design of a house?
A sponge is composed of countless interconnected pores.
These voids allow air, water, and light to pass through freely.
This idea became the foundation of the architectural concept.
Instead of treating the building as a solid mass, we carved out volumes to create meaningful voids—spaces that become an essential part of the architecture itself. At the heart of the house is a central courtyard.
It brings natural daylight deep into the interior, promotes cross ventilation, and connects every living space into one cohesive whole. The greenery was never considered an addition.
It was designed as an integral part of the architecture, woven between living spaces so that nature becomes part of everyday life.
As the house naturally embraces daylight and ventilation, it reduces the need for artificial lighting and mechanical cooling through design rather than technology.
In this house, the void is not an absence of architecture.
It is what gives the architecture life.
Just like the pores of a sponge, the spaces in between are what make the whole system perform beautifully.
