The indoor unit of an air conditioner is the part of the system installed inside a room. Its primary function is to cool and circulate cool air into the space. Below are the main components and their functions:
1. Evaporator
The evaporator is a coil system that absorbs heat from the indoor air. The refrigerant inside the evaporator flows in a cold, low-pressure state. As air passes over the evaporator, heat is absorbed by the refrigerant, cooling the air.
2. Blower (Indoor Fan)
The blower pulls air from the room, pushes it through the evaporator, and blows the cooled air back into the room.
3. Air Filter
The air filter traps dust, dirt, and small particles from the air before it passes through the evaporator. This ensures clean air circulation and protects the AC components from debris.
4. Thermistor (Temperature Sensor)
This sensor detects the room temperature to ensure the AC operates according to the user’s desired settings.
5. Control Panel
The control panel includes settings for temperature, modes (cooling, fan, dehumidify, heating), and fan speed. It is typically operated via a remote control or a touch panel on the indoor unit.
6. Drain Pan and Drain Pipe
The drain pan collects condensation water formed when the evaporator removes moisture from the air. This water is then directed outside through the drain pipe.
7. Electric Motor
The motor powers the blower for effective air circulation.
Main Functions of the Indoor AC Unit
1. Cooling the Air
The indoor unit draws warm air from the room, cools it through the evaporator, and recirculates it back into the room.
2. Improving Air Quality
The air filter removes dust and pollutants, ensuring clean and fresh air in the room.
3. Controlling Humidity
The AC reduces indoor humidity by removing excess moisture during the cooling process.
Maintenance of the Indoor AC Unit
To maintain optimal performance, regular upkeep is necessary, such as:
Cleaning the air filter.
Cleaning the evaporator and blower.
Checking the drain pipe to avoid blockages.
Proper maintenance of AC unit ensures the both outdoor and indoor unit operates efficiently and extends its lifespan.
