Project NAD VLTAVOU✨
__________

This bright space is designed as an indoor oasis. Haptic materials, massive stone pillars, and natural oak work together in harmony. The spatial minimalism is subtly complemented by elegant lighting. Sculptural furniture and a gallery-like atmosphere bring a sense of earthiness and connection to nature into the interior.

Project team: Andrej Ferenčík, Rado Buzinkay, Leyla Korshutova, Anastasiia Ivashchenko, Olexandra Zaika

In 2019, the new owner announced a competition to create a modern production and administrative facility for a spirits manufacturer, integrated into the historical structure. The winning proposal emphasized connecting the industrial heritage with the new function and reopening the complex to the public.

Although the mill is on the outskirts of Kežmarok, the design includes the introduction of a public space that makes the complex accessible, allowing it to become a new city focal point.

The project envisions a balanced mix of production, cultural, recreational, and social uses. The ground floor of the new extension will host a café, a company store, and a museum dedicated to the history of flax processing - bringing the story of craftsmanship closer to the public. The first phase of the redevelopment, now completed, focused primarily on the restoration and adaptive reuse of the original building for production, administrative offices, tasting rooms, and guest apartments.

The interior design highlights the building's original structural logic-cast-iron columns, brick vaults, and semi-vaulted ceilings were preserved. Historic surfaces were cleaned. New elements (flooring, railings, lighting) were introduced in a simple and purposeful manner so as not to dominate the space.

The greatest technical challenge was fire safety due to the presence of alcohol and storage facilities. All technical interventions were implemented to have a minimal visual impact on the architecture.
