Completed in 2018, New Koper Urban Park is set between Piranska Road and the Semedela promenade, and between the Grande canal and the area just beyond the city market. Piranska Road represents a new stage in the development of the town's infrastructure while the promenade is one of the more important features of the town having once acted as the link between the city on the then-island and the mainland. As such, it counts among the characteristic elements in the panorama of Koper.
Central Park received 14 international awards and distinctions between 2018 and 2021.
Its international recognition began with the Landscape Award at The Plan Awards in 2018. In 2019, the project received distinctions from the Balkan Architectural Biennale, Architecture MasterPrize, East Centric Architecture Awards, ABB LEAF Awards, Architizer A+ Awards, The Plan Awards, City Brand & Tourism Landscape Award and BigSEE Architecture Awards.
In 2020, it was honoured with The International Architecture Award, the OHS Award for Excellent Project and the S.ARCH Award for Urban and Landscape Design. This success continued in 2021, when Koper Central Park won the WAF Award in the Landscape – Nature Context category and was selected by the ICONIC Awards for Innovative Architecture.
Beyond its awards, the project has been featured in international architecture and landscape publications, including The Plan, Landscape Design, Architektura & Biznes, Topscape Paysage, a+t, Architektur and LaK.
