A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent ESG Seminar organised in partnership with ESGpedia.

It was great to see our members and industry professionals come together to discuss the growing importance of ESG and sustainability in the construction industry and how businesses can stay ahead as sustainability requirements continue to evolve.

We would like to thank ESGpedia, speakers and panellists (Alvin Cheong from Singapore Green Building Council, Yan Na Chua from ESGpedia, Benjamin Tan from ESGpedia, Brian Lee from Soilbuild Group, and Allan Low from Teambuild Construction Group) for sharing their knowledge and perspectives, and everyone who took the time to join us and contribute to the discussion.

These were the top three words students at Crest Secondary School associated with the construction industry when we asked them about their first impressions.

๐—”๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—น๐˜† ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜.

SCAL recently engaged over 300 Secondary 2 and 3 students at Crest Secondary School to challenge these perceptions and show them what the construction industry is really like today.

The session kicked off with a Myth vs Fact segment, followed by sharing from Nabila, BIM Modeller at Teambuild Construction Pte Ltd, and Zheng Sheng, Senior Project Manager at co Kimly Construction Pte Ltd.

Nabila shared her journey into construction and introduced students to BIM, using Roblox as a relatable example to explain how digital tools can be used to create and build virtual spaces.
Zheng Sheng shared his experience in project management and introduced students to the different career pathways available in the construction industry, highlighting the many roles that come together to bring a project from plans to reality.

As part of SCALโ€™s ongoing efforts to engage and educate young people about the construction industry, we continue to work with schools to give students a better understanding of the opportunities, skills and career pathways available in the built environment.

Earlier this week, members of the SCAL community came together for our Blood Donation Drive, held in collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross. Colleagues from our member companies and members of the public set aside time from their day to contribute to a noble cause. โค๏ธ

We are proud to share that the drive brought together 100+ donors, resulting in 73 bags of blood collected in support of those in need. We extend our sincere thanks to all who participated, and to the Singapore Red Cross for their partnership in making this possible.
