We stopped outsourcing carpentry because too many things could get lost between the design and the build.

Now, our designers work closely with our own carpentry team, so problems can be solved faster and the final result stays closer to the original plan.

First, we changed the layout to improve how people move through the building and make better use of the space.

Second, we upgraded the power and building systems to support how the property would be used for years to come.

Third, we improved the frontage to create a stronger first impression while preserving its heritage character.

The finished property worked better, looked better, and was valued significantly higher after renovation.

Sixty-one years ago, home meant something worth building carefully. It still does.

This year's theme, "Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond," asks us to keep moving forward without losing sight of what got us here. That's the same question we sit with on every project: how do you build something new for a family without erasing who they already are.

Five decisions in every renovation feel minor early on and become expensive once construction starts: electrical planning, air-conditioning, waterproofing, lighting, and built-in carpentry.

None of them are visible yet, which is exactly why they get overlooked until walls are closed and cabinets are ordered. What would have taken a conversation on paper now takes a demolition on site.
