Absolute X is a Singapore-based boutique architectural and interior design consultancy specialising in spatial creation and value design engineering. We believe in working closely with the client and the construction team to realise the dream space in a cost efficient method. We work by understanding the requirements, converting them into design, analysing and refining the design details and finally managing it into reality. Good design does not mean using luxurious materials. Good design is utilising and maximising the potential of what is available to create unique spaces fulfilling the needs of people. Design is not a luxury. Design is for everyone.

Seeing lights at the end of the tunnels.

It has been a long project and we are finally seeing it coming up (or beneath). We hope what we did here is helping with our country and her image (at the very least) once it starts functioning.

Let us push it through and get it going!

Look around carefully and you will find yourself studying and understanding how stuff works or how stuff were constructed and built.

This is how drop-inlets are constructed and used and also how they work with connecting pipes to drain water from the road to a road-side drain further in.

Look at how the bollards are also pre-secured before casting of the bus stop slab. And the cast-in pipes for services to come in later.

This is why construction is different and a lot of prior coordination is required.

Supporting a workshop for a research project in NUS, which explores the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to support Design for Safety (DfS) practices - MIDAS (Multimodal LLM-driven Intelligent Design-for-Safety Advisory System). The research project aims to make DfS practice more systematic, traceable, knowledge-informed, and lifecycle-oriented.

Like we always say, support / contribute and learn at the same time. Why not?

Attended the Authority Compliances for Workers’ Dormitory course for Qualified Persons — timely, given the Dormitory Transition Scheme (DTS) now underway.

The DTS is MOM’s multi‑year push to uplift migrant worker housing: around 900 existing dormitories must meet improved interim standards by 2030, before transitioning to the full New Dormitory Standards by 2040. Key upgrades include capping room occupancy at 12 residents, providing more en‑suite toilets and wash basins, strengthening infection control, and adding isolation facilities.

As architects and engineers, our role isn’t just about submissions. It’s about translating these requirements into humane, resilient spaces — better ventilation, clearer circulation, safer partitions, and details that quietly improve daily life for workers who support our development and our country.

Doing the small things right is how we raise living standards. Proud to be equipping ourselves to support dormitory operators through this transition — responsibly, efficiently, and compassionately.

Throwback to the Inspirational Talk by Minister Ong.

Something struck us. Sometimes we may be thinking too highly of ourselves, imagining ourselves to be influential. Probably "influenced" (pun-intended) by our traditional roles and legendary architects.

But outside the legendary few, how many architects simply fulfill their roles quietly and humbly?

Do the small things right. Accumulate them. Embrace the little satisfactions in every project. They may not be Instagrammable or award‑winning, but they matter—to the users, and to the intent and purpose each space serves.

Keep doing the right things. Stay true to ourselves.

Projects always bring us to unexpected and unfamiliar places even it is in our own country. We would not have see this if it is not for a site visit. Cyberpunk feel. It just shows that we need to embrace every moment and savour every day.

Slow down, notice the little things and create lasting joy.

Wrapped up visit to BEX Asia 2026 at Marina Bay Sands last week! 🇸🇬

Great opportunity to catch up on the latest trends in AI, robotics, and sustainable solutions shaping the built environment. Inspired by the practical innovations on display—from Build with AI to live robotics demos—and the strong push towards digitalisation and smarter, greener buildings.

Great to connect and re-connect, see what is new and out there, and bring fresh ideas back to the studio.
