Composed through a quiet dialogue of timber, texture, light and shadow, warm wood tone wraps the space, while woven details and tactile surfaces introduce a softer rhythm that feels both refined and familiar.

Natural light filters through sheer curtains, casting delicate patterns across the floor and allowing the character of the room to shift throughout the day.

Rather than relying on a single statement, the design finds its richness in the details, creating a space that feels considered, calm, and deeply inviting.

The dining hall is anchored by an expressive ceiling, where layered botanical forms unfold overhead. More than an ornamental gesture, it draws the eye upward and gives the room a distinct sense of identity and occasion.

Below, natural stone, warm timber, textured surfaces and softly diffused light create a more intimate counterpoint.

The contrast between intricacy above and restraint below brings depth to the space, framing the dining table as a place for connection, conversation, and shared moments.

Styling became the final layer that brought warmth to structure and softness to precision. Curved silhouettes temper architectural lines. Layered textures invite touch. Sculptural lighting, carefully selected artworks, and subtle accents introduce moments of personality throughout the home.

Black frames the calm with classic lines, a whisper of colour where timeless shines.

The verse became the emotional foundation of the design for this two-level penthouse at Hallmark Residences, reflecting the homeowner’s desire for a residence that feels elegant, enduring, and deeply personal.

Echoes of Timeless Classic explores how timelessness can be expressed through proportion, texture, and thoughtful composition. Black architectural lines weave throughout the home, creating continuity and visual rhythm, while carefully curated materials introduce warmth, tactility, and depth.

“Black frames the calm with classic lines,
A whisper of colour where timeless shines.
Textures and patterns speak in hushed embrace,
Expanding walls for home to trace.”

Framed in soft stone hues and outlined with black detailing, the space balances elegance with intention, while offering a private corner for reflection before the day begins.

Design begins long before a wall is drawn or a material is chosen.

It begins with people.

At SIDFest 2026, Kelly Kawahara Cheah, our founder, shared K2SD’s perspective on designing for wellbeing on how light, nature, materiality, and sensory experiences can quietly shape the way we feel within a space.

A meaningful afternoon of conversations, ideas, and reflections on how design can move beyond aesthetics to become an act of care.

Thank you to Society of Interior Designers and Admira Hpl for the invitation, and to everyone who joined us in exploring how spaces can support healthier, richer, and more human experiences.

Set against a backdrop of marble veining and open sky, the master bathroom invites moments of stillness amidst the rhythm of everyday life.

Light, material, and proportion come together, transforming a daily routine into a restorative retreat.

At K2SD, we have always believed that design is more than aesthetics. The spaces we create shape how we feel, connect, heal, and live. From the play of natural light to the thoughtful orchestration of sensory experiences, every design decision carries the potential to nurture wellbeing in quiet yet meaningful ways.

Kelly will join an esteemed panel of thought leaders to explore how interior design can move beyond function and beauty to create environments that support physical, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing.

We are grateful to the Society of Interior Designers Singapore for the invitation and look forward to contributing to this important conversation on designing with care, empathy, and purpose.

Light, texture, and contrast find their balance here.

Black details punctuate a softer palette, creating a composition that feels timeless and composed. Every surface serves a purpose, every detail contributes to the whole.
