We are honoured to receive the Singapore Good Design Mark (SG Mark) 2026 award for Masjid Darul Makmur: Reframing tradition with contemporary lens, at the awards ceremony, and to see our work featured alongside Singapore’s finest design achievements.

Buildings are vessels of our collective memory and identity. Extending their lives allows connections to endure across generations, preserving the communities, stories and ways of life that give places meaning. It is also a more sustainable approach to architecture. By adapting and renewing what already exists, we reduce the need for demolition and new construction, conserving resources and lowering our carbon footprint.

Heartfelt thanks to Design Business Chamber Singapore for this recognition, and to Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) for their trust and partnership in bringing this vision to life.

The design transforms the conventional multi-storey carpark into a light-filled and visually engaging piece of neighbourhood infrastructure. Some buildings take their identity from function.

Others find it in the stories of the place they belong.

Named after the historic water ponds that once defined the area, Kolam Ayer Community Club draws its architectural language from the movement and reflection of water. Curved forms, layered glazing and flowing circulation spaces reinterpret this local identity, creating a contemporary civic landmark that feels rooted in its surroundings rather than imposed upon them.
