A dining area doesn't always need more furniture to support more activities.

Planned along one side of the space, seating, storage and the pantry work together to support different daily activities without overwhelming the dining area.

The space stays organised while leaving the rest of the area open and comfortable to use.

A dining area that is designed around how people live, not just how they dine.

A foyer doesn't always need a wall to feel defined.

A skylight anchors the foyer with natural light, while the curved ceiling softens the transition into the living area, creating separation without enclosure.

As daylight fades, concealed cove lighting takes over, preserving the same atmosphere into the evening.

From day to night, the foyer retains the same sense of arrival.

Every resale home starts with understanding how each area needs to work.

For this home, an unused room was opened up to create more space for dining and additional seating.

The master bedroom and Bedroom 3 were reorganised to introduce a dedicated maidโ€™s room linked to the kitchen, while the master bedroom was extended to create more usable layout.

Each decision was made to improve the flow, separation, and how the home works for daily living.

Bedroom 2 was labelled as a bedroom, but it wasn't intended to function as one.

The homeowner planned to use it as a walk-in wardrobe.

By creating a new opening from the master bedroom, the wardrobe became part of a single, continuous master suite alongside the bedroom and bathroom.

One structural change. The bedroom, wardrobe, and bathroom now function as a single private suite.

Large wall surfaces can easily feel top-heavy, bottom-heavy, or visually empty when attention is concentrated in a single area.

In this space, horizontal black bands were used to distribute visual weight across the elevation rather than around the television alone.

This helps organise the wall into clear layers, creating a stronger sense of balance between the upper and lower portions of the space.

The television remains integrated within the composition, rather than becoming the sole focal point.

Without layers to soften it, a space can feel stark despite being bright.

In this project, sheer curtains, indirect lighting and warm neutral finishes were introduced to moderate how light is experienced throughout the space.

The transformation isn't in the amount of light, but in how that light is experienced.

The past few months have been a period of steady growth for By Design.

Our team expanded.
New projects came on board.
Sites continued moving.
Materials, details, and design decisions were reviewed across different homes.

We are also preparing for our next chapter, moving into a bigger showroom and building a stronger space for our clients, team, and future projects.
