When performing a neck reset, there are a couple of things that are important.

Obviously the person using the instrument has noticed something wrong. Maybe the action is too high at certain points on the neck? Probably the height of the bridge saddle (what still exist of it!) will be almost flush with the actual body of the bridge?

This is why neck resets needs to be undertaken. The pull of the strings (80-100 kilos) have endured the height of the top to change into another position, from when it was made.

If the neck is mounted unto the body, then the angle can be different. Yielding a new leaway for the strings! Maybe just, or close to when the instrument was new?
