Creation, learning and circularity converge at ReFab Lab, where we design with salvaged wood, offer courses in woodworking, host team building events, and lead activities for the community. Founded by Kevin Keul and Lili Smith, ReFab Lab is a space located in Malmö that holds woodworking workshops, operates a member based wood club and organizes the non-profit Community Builds.

This beautiful elm table that ReFab Lab just refinished is proof that there is no reason to put a woden table in the trash if it has a few stains and scratches.

Saving furniture may take a few more steps than trashing it, but it is both more affordable and climate impact light. No carbon back into the atmosphere from burning, no carbon spent from new materials to buy a new table, and very little emissions from the materials used to refinish.

If you don't like the style anymore, why not refinish your old one and re-sell, and shop for another used table before buying another new one. A sure win win for your finances and the environment!

If you're curious about what types of projects are made in our membership based woodworking club, this is a great example of a larger furniture piece from our member Victor!

Design and function come together in his room divider/tv stand/bookshelf. Fabricated at ReFab Lab and assembled at home.
