Some voices return because the conversation keeps evolving.

We're pleased to welcome back Laurențiu Urluescu, President of the Association of Energy Suppliers in Romania (AFEER - Asociatia Furnizorilor de Energie din Romania), to the 7th Romanian Green PPA.

As Romania's energy market continues to change, the perspective of suppliers remains essential to understanding how long-term energy contracting is evolving in practice.

We're looking forward to hearing Laurențiu Urluescu's insights this October in Bucharest.

Join the conversation on 15 October 2026.

Some conversations deserve more than one edition.

When Liesbeth Switten, Secretary General of the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB), joined Romanian Green PPA for the first time, Romania was only beginning its journey towards closer integration with the European Guarantees of Origin market.

This October, she returns to continue that conversation.

A lot has happened since then.

Romania has made important progress towards AIB membership, bringing the market one step closer to a fully operational and internationally recognised Guarantees of Origin system.

From 1 January 2027, Romania's accession to the AIB will open the European market for Guarantees of Origin issued nationally, enabling cross-border trading and creating new commercial opportunities for Romanian renewable energy producers. At the same time, Guarantees of Origin will become an increasingly important instrument for end consumers, supporting decarbonisation strategies, sustainability reporting and the verification of renewable electricity consumption.

At the 7th Romanian Green PPA, Liesbeth Switten will discuss what this milestone means for producers, suppliers, traders and corporate consumers, and how Romania's integration into the European Guarantees of Origin market will shape the next stage of market development.

We're delighted to welcome her back to Bucharest.

A year ago, conversations about AI, data centres and long-term energy strategies were only beginning to gain momentum.
Today, they're becoming one of the biggest drivers of the energy market.

A recent example comes from France, where Data4 has signed a 12-year agreement with EDF to power its data centre portfolio. Another sign that long-term energy certainty is becoming essential for digital infrastructure.

It's exactly why data centres have become one of the key topics of the 7th Romanian Green PPA.

The contract will last 12 years and supply the operator with 230GWh per annum

☀️ Summer is here. Which also means calendars for autumn are quietly starting to fill up. So, before everyone disappears completely into holiday mode, here's one date worth saving:
📅 15 October 2026, Romanian Green PPA

When we organised the first edition of Romanian Green PPA, the conversations looked very different. Back then, we were talking about introducing PPAs to the Romanian market.

Today, we're discussing how AI and data centres are reshaping electricity demand, how battery storage changes contracting strategies, how Guarantees of Origin are evolving and how companies are combining PPAs with energy management systems to build more resilient businesses.

It's exciting to see how far both the market and this community have come.

This October, we're looking forward to welcoming back many of the people who have been part of this journey from the very beginning and to meeting those joining the PPA market for the first time.

🔋 Is the energy market moving from contracting renewable generation to contracting flexibility?

During the 6th edition of Romanian Green PPA, Nicolas Briet, Lead Analyst for Renewable Energy & PPA Markets at Pexapark's Editorial & Analysis Team, shared insights from Pexapark's Renewables Market Outlook 2026, highlighting a major shift taking place across European energy markets.

📊 As renewable pe*******on increases, volatility, cannibalisation effects, and lower capture rates are changing the economics of traditional PPAs. At the same time, battery storage is emerging as a key tool for managing risk and unlocking value.

⚡ One of the most striking findings: nearly 12 GW of battery capacity was contracted through flexibility purchase agreements in 2025, signalling a growing market focus on flexibility alongside generation.

📉 Negative electricity prices are no longer an exception. They are becoming part of the new market reality.

During the 6th edition of Romanian Green PPA, Sanda Abrudan, Head of Energy & Resources Financing & Advisory at UniCredit Romania, spoke about how increasing renewable energy capacity is reshaping market dynamics and forcing investors, lenders, and developers to rethink traditional assumptions.

⚡ As price volatility becomes a permanent feature of energy markets, project bankability, revenue forecasting, and financing structures must evolve accordingly.

🎥 Watch the full video to discover why adapting to negative-price risk may become one of the most important challenges for renewable energy investments in the years ahead.

⚡ What happens when more renewable energy enters the grid, but storage infrastructure does not keep pace?

During the 6th edition of Romanian Green PPA, Martin Moise, First Vice President of Organizatia Patres, spoke about the growing pressure negative-price hours are placing on renewable energy projects and why battery integration may become essential for the long-term viability of the market.

🔋 From CFD mechanisms and solar cannibalization to the role of bilateral PPAs in reducing price volatility, the discussion highlighted some of the key structural challenges shaping the next phase of Romania’s energy transition.

The session also raised an important question for the industry: can current renewable business models remain sustainable without large-scale storage deployment?

💶 A new €500 million EU-backed programme could become a major catalyst for the corporate PPA market in Europe.

During the 6th edition of Romanian Green PPA, Nikolay Petrov, Loan Officer, Financial Institutions Department, European Investment Bank, spoke about the new initiative launched by the EIB together with the European Commission to support companies signing long-term renewable energy PPAs.

⚡ The discussion highlighted one of the market’s key realities: PPAs are still highly customized agreements, where off-taker creditworthiness and bankability remain critical for project financing.

From risk-sharing facilities to support for multiple PPA structures, the session offered valuable insights into how European financial institutions are helping accelerate the clean energy transition.

🎥 Watch the full video to discover how the next wave of corporate PPAs could be supported at European level.

⚡ How “green” is renewable energy if production and consumption are not actually matched?

During the 6th edition of Romanian Green PPA, Augustin Nicolae, Business Development Manager at G Energy Solutions, spoke about the growing importance of granular Guarantees of Origin and why real-time energy matching is becoming a major topic for companies pursuing sustainability targets.

📊 From Scope 2 reporting to Romania’s integration into the European GO ecosystem, the discussion highlighted why transparency and traceability are becoming increasingly important across energy markets.
