The plans and section for School No. 51 show how sports facilities and neighbourhood parking occupy a single footprint: 152 parking spaces across two underground levels, two independent sports halls above, and an outdoor court on the roof. Two light wells bring natural daylight into the parking levels.

Separate circulation routes allow pupils, staff, residents and visitors to use the building independently. Residents reach the street without crossing the schoolyard, while dedicated entrances allow the sports halls to open to the neighbourhood in the evenings and at weekends. The underground parking is intended to support the relocation of parked cars from surrounding streets, making room for usable pavements.

At School No. 51, the proposal replaces an existing concrete sports court with a building that retains outdoor play on its roof. Two stacked sports halls and two underground parking levels share the same footprint, extending the school’s facilities within a constrained site.

The glazed ground floor places the lower hall in direct visual continuity with the schoolyard. Above, angled perforated metal panels filter daylight into the upper hall and reveal its illuminated interior at night. The rooftop court forms an elevated schoolyard, alongside planted areas and photovoltaic panels.

As part of Career-BUILD, a programme developed by UTCB in collaboration with industry partners, our colleague Oana Anghel presented Quadratum Architecture’s perspective on the future of engineering, digitalisation, BIM workflows, and emerging technologies in construction.

Sharing practical experience and real project examples helps future engineers connect their academic training with professional practice and understand the changing requirements of the industry.

We thank UTCB for the invitation and for supporting dialogue between academia and the construction sector.

We are delighted to have received the Diploma of Excellence in the Public & Community Award category, together with the Impact Award, at the Romanian Awards for Construction and Development, for our project Labirint Church and School.

Patricia Sturzoiu, Managing Partner at Quadratum Architecture, was invited to speak about the Labirint project at the second edition of SHARE Armenia in Yerevan. The forum brought together more than 250 participants for a programme built around case studies from invited architecture offices.

Our Managing Partner, Patricia Sturzoiu, presented Labirint at SHARE Georgia 2026, revisiting a project that has had a special journey within the SHARE community.

Last year, Labirint received the SHARE Architecture Award in the Completed Buildings – Education category. This time, we had the opportunity to return to the project and share some of the ideas, decisions and reflections behind it, including how the building has evolved through the way it is used today.

It was also a great opportunity to meet architects and designers from Georgia and across the SHARE network, exchange perspectives and continue conversations around architecture, education and community.

Thank you, SHARE Georgia, for having us in Tbilisi!
