Ontem apresentámos a Casa Marnotos no evento “Habitar - 5 minutos, 1 projeto”, organizado pela .

Obrigado à OASRN pelo convite e por criar um espaço de partilha e reflexão sobre a arquitectura actual.
Foi um prazer ouvir o trabalho de colegas arquitectos e contribuirmos com um projecto focado na reabilitação e adaptação de estruturas existentes a novas formas de habitar.

Thank you to OASRN for the invitation and for creating a space to share and reflect on architecture today. It was a pleasure to hear the work of fellow architects and to contribute with a project focused on rehabilitation and adapting existing structures to new ways of living.

Fill Architecture will present Marnotos House project at “5 Minutos, 1 Projecto – Habitar”, organized by Ordem dos Arquitectos – Secção Regional Norte.

This project focuses on the rehabilitation of a rural house in Baião, maintaining its vernacular identity while introducing new conditions for use and comfort.
The intervention involved redefining programme elements, improving natural light, and adapting spaces such as the ground-floor winery and agricultural annex — all while respecting the typological and material character of the original granite construction.

Este projeto centra-se na reabilitação de uma casa rural em Baião, mantendo a sua identidade vernacular e introduzindo novas condições de uso e conforto.
A intervenção envolveu a redefinição de elementos programáticos, a melhoria da iluminação natural e a adaptação de espaços como a adega do piso térreo e o anexo agrícola, respeitando o carácter tipológico e material da construção original em granito.

A to Z — G for Gable

A gable is the triangular wall section formed between the slopes of a pitched roof.
It defines the silhouette of a house, shapes the attic, and influences ventilation and sunlight entry.
A simple element — often the first line we draw when we imagine “house.”

A cumieira é a aresta de intersecção de dois planos de rampa (inclinados) que formam o telhado. Trata-se do remate final que define a silhueta da casa e marca o ponto alto de sótãos.

Swimming Pool in Gestaçô
This project transformed an unused exterior into a defined and functional space.
The geometry is clear and deliberate, oriented west-south and slightly east to follow the sun.�

The materials were chosen for comfort and durability:
• A non-slip lining in dark blue-green, practical and understated�
• Travertine paving, soft for bare feet�
• Granite coping, a typical material of the region

It’s where architecture takes shape long before construction begins.

World Dance Day
The architecture of performance spaces is inseparable from the experience of dance. Stage proportions, acoustics, and spatial configuration all shape how movement is perceived and sound is received.

A reference point is Wagner’s Bayreuth Festspielhaus (1876), designed to enhance dramatic intensity through architectural means — such as the hidden orchestra pit and fan-shaped wooden auditorium.
It marked a shift in how architecture could heighten both artistic expression and technical performance.

Swimming Pool in Gestaçô — Almost there!

The final stages of construction are underway, with the installation of the outdoor travertine flooring.
This material is well-suited for exterior applications, offering both durability and comfort.

Its warm tones create a harmonious contrast with the granite used in the guides and wall copings, ensuring a cohesive integration with the surrounding landscape.

Portuguese Book Day | Dia do Livro Português

As part of Portuguese Book Day, we highlight Filipa Guimarães master thesis, "Architecture for Dance and the Performing Arts - Form, Dimension and Characteristics of Scenic Spaces."

This study examines the relationship between architectural space and performance, focusing on the evolution of scenic spaces, the technical and functional elements that define them, and their impact on the development of dance and performing arts throughout the 20th century.

No âmbito do Dia do Livro Português, destacamos a dissertação de mestrado de Filipa Guimarães, Arquitectura para a Dança e para as Artes Performativas - Forma, Dimensão e Características dos Espaços Cénicos.

Este trabalho estuda a relação entre o espaço arquitectónico e o espectáculo, focando a evolução dos espaços cénicos, os elementos técnicos e funcionais que os definem e o seu impacto no desenvolvimento da Dança e das Artes Performativas ao longo do século XX.
