Rua de Silva Porto began as an irregular plot occupied by abandoned structures, some already in ruins. There was nothing here to rehabilitate; it was a site that needed to be rethought from the ground up.
The project combined two adjacent plots into a single development: 16 units ranging from studios (T0) to three-bedroom apartments (T3), distributed across four above-ground floors and a basement parking level. The main façade follows the street alignment, while the rear façade steps back, creating private terraces on almost every floor.
However, the most significant decision lies in the courtyard. Where the site was previously entirely paved over, we created a communal garden with a pool, ensuring the 30% permeable area required by local zoning regulations. The unified color scheme across the façade and roof reinforces the building's identity as a single, cohesive volume.
Not every intervention at Silva Porto is a matter of rehabilitation. Sometimes, it is necessary to build anew with the same level of care.
